Welcome to my Pantry Challenge & Grocery Challenge! As part of my Frugal Living UK series, I’m chatting about my meal plan …
Amazing start £0 spent. I’ve got some bacon in our freezer to use up I’m going to make carbonara too.
Claire you are a true inspiration….massive well done to you! If you ever have leeks again, another great meal is chicken and leek pie, a true favourite in our home. I hope this week you are doing just as brilliantly and hopefully a little cooler for you.
Awesome. Zero spend week. Also, you’re looking great. Blessings
Yayy! So glad you brought these videos are back. I love them! Xxx
Very inspiring, thank you. Just put on my slow cooker to make a vegan curry for dinner. Way too hot for the oven being on.
I'm going to try not buy anything this week aside from veggies/ fruit
Good start! I make pizza in the air fryer as I can’t bear to put the oven on (heat and money) at present. I slice and we start eating one while the other one cooks. Also I crisp bacon in air fryer and top my pasta rather than stir it through, it seems to make more impact. You have given me the push to be creative with my supplies though.
You could use the puff pastry as a pizza/tart base and add tomato puree and cheese plus veg and any meat.
Well done on a productive zero spend week. What a very hot week (and more) we've had – even the thought of going for a run or to the gym makes me feel faint!
We’ve found it really hard to eat much in this heat , so won’t touch the freezer much at the moment ,
We had chicken strip breast burgers with salad last night . Tonight it’s going to be mini home made pizza with mozzarella, ham and pineapple on wraps, and salad lol . Tomorrow it’s going to be tuna pasta onion salad with more salad lol I’m trying to use up as much as I can with fridge things at the moment before I start to attack the freezer. Will keep you posted . You’ve started off really well . Xxxx
Fantastic start Claire! Well done! And no need to ever apologise for your appearance, washer or dishwasher 😂 you look great and we all are hear for you, so don’t worry there! Thanks for sharing! Tracy
Hi Claire great video 🙂
We love duck and have had it for our Christmas dinner most years!
Very motivational, thanks so much. Lots of ideas and definitely inspired me to do a challenge. Thank you
Thank you Claire you did great on your no spend week I did mine last week for 5 days then we went to the seaside so broke it by buying snacky bits for beach picnic but was a lot cheaper than buying when we were there ..hope your enjoying the summer its going fast now were mid august so lets hope we have a mild winter to keep fuel costs down .x
Wow great job Clare!
It feels great, doesnt it, when you go a whole week without buying any food? Ive actually gone two weeks with only buying milk and bread and think that pretty darn good too!
Brilliant! I'm doing the same thing because my freezer has been full of things that I don't use and I need to get them eaten before they've "had it". We don't eat at all the same, but I'll follow this with considerable interest because I'll be doing it too. I am expecting to move at some point over the next few months, so I need to run down the freezer and my food pantry.
U r looking great. That picture in the yellow dress is very complimentary on u. U can see ur hard work paying off.
You did a wonderful job on this pantry challenge! I think these are my favorite videos that you post. I find pantry challenges myself the most challenging, but they’re the most rewarding.
I am spending sometimes $10-$14 for 2-3 chicken breasts. An entire precooked chicken costs $7. I have decided to try and get the precooked chicken once a month and keep some packs of the raw ones in the freezer for other dishes. I wonder if it’s the same in England? Sometimes the precooked makes more sense. Our energy has gone up as well. It’s the whole sale price of the energy not a company decision.
I love when you do these. So inspiring. You said a store pizza was a pound, in the US, we just had a store pizza for dinner and it was 6.99, for a self rising, cheese pizza. The price differences for food, around the world, just amaze me at times. Thank you for sharing. Be safe and stay well, Catherine
I have been using my crockpot and microwave, rarely using the electric frypan. I cook every 3rd day and sometimes make No Cook meals!
That’s amazing 👍
It's hard to eat in the hot weather, Claire. I actually ended up throwing food away, I'm sad to say. Also with the extreme heat, bread, fruit and veg went off even though I tried to keep it cool. Rain is forecast tonight! x
Great job on a no spend week
Thanks for the inspiration you're doing great with your exercise routines! Looking really well!
Great job! I'm trying to use up what we have this week as well. Our kids went back to school and it was an expensive week with school supplies, uniforms, etc. Plus one of our sons joined martial arts a few days a week, which he's loving, but wasn't cheap! We have 8 people in our house (me, husband, 5 kids, and my mom) so we go through a lot of food. I feel like I also need to do a pantry challenge.
i add a little pasta water to the eggs before adding to the pasta..almost guarantee's non scrambled eggs..brill vlog Hun .💐
What a great feeling to be able to eat all week without having to grocery shop. I try to stretch my shops to 10 days but on occasions can make it 2 weeks and on those weeks I am delighted as it means I have saved money, I also try to make the last week of each month a use it up week which again saves on the grocery bill.I just feel every little bit helps.
I cook my bacon first and usually find I don’t need to add extra oil to cook the rest of the ingredients.
Good luck on your mission. One question if you are going to use up the food in the freezer, and not replace, will this not cost you more to run your freezer?
Wow great job! Can I just say that you are doing great on your fitness as well. You certainly are an inspiration.
I've really challenged myself with this month's budget. Usually I do £80 for the month but I've got a lot of food in the house so decided to aim for £60. Unfortunately I had a necessary expensive purchase this week so I've now only got £10.30 left for the rest of the month 😟 Fingers crossed I can manage it, I'll be watching videos from you, Trying To Get By, and Frugal Fit Mom for budget inspiration! ☺
Claire that's fantastic well done ,could I ask were do you get your meal ideas from I live on my own and am trying to budget and make cutbacks any tips would be welcome. Thanks in advance. ❤👍
Well done! Any week with zero spent on food is a win!
I love these pantry challenges and I definitely need to do one my self as I have 2 freezers full of stuff !
Do a trial run for the duck. You don’t want to make something new for Christmas on Christmas..
I’m definitely going to be using the duck soon – yeah, heard that before 😂🤪😂🤪😂🤪
Great video, lots of ideas, thank you x
I am pleased I have the bell set, so I knew there was your vlog to watch. I enjoyed watching thanks. I really need to set my stall out to do this too. I just keep buying food. Way too much for me (being single), the freezer is full to the brim & still I keep buying. My fridge is full too & I am in danger of wasting meat as I've bought too much & the freezer is full, & I don't have a hope of eating it all. Going to see if I can squeeeeeze some cooked mince chicken w onion or the cooked bacon in the freezer. I really really must start 🤔
Last week I went 18 ,32 over the Budget. And I have got, for free 3 Kilos of fruit, and tomatoes from a friend. And have bought 3 Produkts – 1 and 1 for free👍.That I don't have to buy next week. I Had to buy groceries for next week ,for our Student. So I' m counting 12,72 for the next weeks Budget down.I have at two Supermarkts a reduction ,totally 16 euros, for next week.Eating the Freezer, and the pantry down. I don' t Need much for next week👍. Have Made an meal Plan.👍 Have 8 meals planned.
Good Luck for you,for next week👍
Thanks Claire. You looked really lovely in your wedding outfit x Just a quick question please, how long did you cook the veggies in your IP?
Would love to see how you make the Mongolia beef.
Fantastic result for the week. Zero is a magic number in that challenge .Well done .
A whole duck doesn't stretch a long way so have an alternative planned too!
i know alot of people are cooking 2-3 meals in the oven when they have to use it. and just reheating the other meals later.
Thanks for the video, Claire. I hope the challenge goes well for you. The start is really encouraging!
