I posted this to my Facebook page so I can make better tamales. My big problem is that I like long and fat tamales, so I am always spreading too much masa in my husk, so when the steam, they come out really hard. Don't worry, I'll work on that. So this Saturday, I'm going to make some tamales, and see how they come out.

I used to get invited to parties from the Mexican men I worked with at the farm I worked with. I loved the tamales so much.
They told me they were special and not everyday food. I can see why. That is a lot of work.
    Great video

How about a round metal rack with 2โ€ legs, since aluminum is such a toxic heavy metal that does give off harmful vapors?
There are silicone steamer racks, like those for the steam hot pots. Would these be profitable at $9/Tamale?
Gramma held the husk down on her board, not held it, and she was a speedy one!

Loved the video, but you guys made me so hungry at 11:58….I doubt I'd ever make them, but I've eaten them many times and I do love them…love most all the Mexican food that I have eaten…some better than the other, but I will get some the next time I eat out….love to see your Mom on tv, she seems so sweet….I love the pancake she made at the end of the video, I think I could make those, less trouble I'd say….Have a question…maybe it will sound stupid but I thought Masa was a dry food like corn meal… the masa you were using looked like it may have been mixed with water or something….but don't recall seeing you make up the masa….or either I missed it…is it dry like corn meal & you have to mix it with liquid of some kind ?? I'll go back and watch the first of the video tomorrow, I could have stepped away from the table when I was watching this ….:)
