Seems like no vegan/plant based YTers are acknowledging or doing videos to help those who now rely on food banks and under/unemployed and or homeless. I know it’s a hard subject but it’s so needed. About 26 million adults (12%) in US reported food shortages as of Dec 2020 and 1 in 8 ‘sometimes or often did not have enough food’. Feeding America gave out 4.2 billion meals last Mar – Oct (60% incr in food bank users and 4 in 10 first-timers.) All this doesn’t incl children/teens whose numbers are higher.

You are a good son. Regarding filling up the pot, I think you are supposed to leave at least an inch of space between the food and the top of the pot inside. This way the food won't block the vent and the steam can escape. Be careful, John. I don't want to hear that your pot exploded due to pressure build-up. Sometime, a big leave can stick up while cooking and block the vent as well, so I always mahe sure I have the area around the vent clear of anything that my prevent the pressure to escape when needed.

For the jars – let's say you put them in jars and you know they are going to be eaten within the week (and refrigerated)… is it necessary to vacuum seal them? Does bacteria grow in the jar if you don't do that or is it to keep them fresher?

hey John, i LOVE this video. You're doing a great thing buy helping your parents eat healthy foods. I have an instant pot and I will definitely try this! Also, I wondered if you still have your little dog? If so, do you take him to visit your parents. I think my Mom and her partner like seeing my dog almost as much as they like seeing me so you may want to give them some pet visits, too! any other furbaby companions? I haven't seen him on videos for a while. I think you had a cat too if I recall. I think having pets in my life is so great.

I wanna use this medium to share a short tale about what has happened to me recently. This might be very beneficial to some women here or serve as a help or guide to them. I have had breast cancer since the past 8 years, although now, i am healed. This has caused me a lot of pain all through, not until i got healed recently. My cancer was HER2-positive. It was not really easy for me to deal with. I kept on using propolis lecithin and other drugs, they all failed. I even had surgeries three consecutive times and still, this lump did not disappear until i met this great doctor online. Dr cozon. I saw a testimony about him in one youtube channel where one german woman used his herbal medications for skin cancer and she was healed. I just had to contact him and give him a try because before then, i was confused, i thought i will lost my life because of the breast cancer. Well, i contacted him and explained my condition to him and i got some herbal medications from him which i used as he prescribed, during the course of usage, i notice the lump in my breast started shrinking, within two weeks, everything disappeared, i went for biopsy and i was confirmed cancer free. I have really been so happy. Like i said earlier, i am sharing this here because this might help some people here. Dr cozon treats all kinds of cancer including kidney cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, skin cancer and the rest. He also specializes on treatement of some other major diseases. You can contact dr cozon on call/whatsapp on +13192094060 for enquiries and others

HI john, how do you manage Protein? I've heard a prepper who lived in the most fertile area in south america, and he said that you could at most manage 70% of everything you can eat in the form of plants, even in optimal conditions.

I would love to see your parents reaction to your food choices. I know your food choices are far diff than theirs. What are they doing to get calories. Splitting that quart jar between two people have very little calories. I'm sure the butternut has some but is it enough?

I think it is great you are looking after them and trying to keep them healthy I do the same with my family but they are very resistant. I will not stop though.

When eating raw kale tear and massage to create a tender salad. Kale prepped like this with added fresh squeezed lemon and or balsamic vinegar massaged again, is wonderful. Add chopped walnuts, dried cranberry, diced apple w/ celery a little olive oil add some diced chicken for added protein. Great meal! A little red onion tase good too. But it’s the massaging with acid ingredients that breaks down fiber.

Unless the plant has noticeable amount of dirt and grime on it, u probably add more bacterias and chemicals from the filtered water than the dry plants as-is. Moisture is the friend of bacteria.
