I was a very skeptical when I first heard about a vegan, low-carb, high-fiber flatbread made with nothing more than red lentils and …
Ok…..Try storing the batter, with or without rice overnight in an instapot set to the yoghurt setting. It will ferment. Don’t add the salt until just before you cook.
I wonder whether u can mix in pearl barley with the lentils?
Seems like a papadam to me. Many different flours can be used: rice, potato, gram, chickpea, etc. There is a French version using buckwheat flour called a Breton galette. Yes, it is exactly a tortilla, with a bean flour/paste instead of wheat or masa, although legume pastes can certainly be used for tortillas. ALL these are best when the batter is left to stand for a few hours or overnight before cooking. In other parts of world they're made from tapioca, taro, manioc and just about anything starchy that can be readily ground up. I suspect that even things like turnips would be pretty good.
Besides rinsing the lentils after soaking, try adding some cooked rice to them before grinding, so the end result is crispier and tastes nicer
I wonder if you could make the Mexican pizza out of this?
Why do you talk like that?
Its called Indian Roti not a flatbread.
I liked his voice, and the lilt with which he spoke, very calming, so much so that I think I'll take a nap now, make the recipe tomorrow 😴🛌
Like Jaffna, Sri Lankan Dosai
I need that flatbread to cut for the summer
If you claim to be a good person, why not vegan then? Dominion (2018)
The Indians have been making lentil pancakes for generations. They dip it with fresh coconut buttermilk sauce.
Will this work in a regular blender ? Thx
Similar to Ethiopian flat bread called Ijera. Traditionally Injera is made form teff flour but you can use other types of gains and legumes
I tried it just doesn’t work. The downside is burnt and up is soft that I can not turn it. I tried in a steel pan I don’t have non stick. Any advice? Thank you
Hi chef john, this is a great recipe! So easy and healthy! Just wondering, what is the non-stick pan you used in this video? Thanks so much!
HICE LA RECETA, YO CREO QUE FALTA ALGÚN INGREDIENTE QUE NO SALE EN EL VIDEO, PORQUE NI ME SALIO BIEN
Amazing recipe. I have to eat GF and I miss "bread." Some of the gf wraps/tortilla are terrible for my digestion. This is So simple, cheap, healthy, gf, no "gums" or additives, and very versatile. THANK YOU for giving such an easy to follow recipe. I will make this soon.😊
Adding additional seasonings like cumin makes for a delicious flatbread. Very tasty, easy, and affordable!
And with a dab of melted cheese and some fried onions a dish fit for a (very poor) King.
So basically unfermented dosa.
