The second time I used the instapot I kept getting the burn message with a chicken and rice dish. The rice was all stuck to the bottom. With your layering method, can I put in the chicken first and rice on top and get the same results even though the rice isn't sitting in water? I used to have a cheaper brand and I feel it worked better. My experience has been disappointing. Have you ever lined with parchment paper to prevent this?

💕 Thank you ! I wasn't quite sure what I'd done or didn't do to get the BURN message, because I usually go thru everything before the final turn on. While I didn't deglaze after sauteing, I thought my Pot's bottom was clean all the way around. I missed the area closest to me, in front.
Thank you for the idea to turn off & pour everything into another container. My problem was my pot was still highly pressurized, so I had to wait for the QR, which wasn't that quick ! HaHa I do have pasta in mine as well, but I put it on top as instructed. So once I cleaned my pot, I turned it back on with Zero minutes. Hoping it comes out not too mushy. 🙋🏻‍♀️💗

good info, but normally you don't have to take everything out, you just need to reset it. cancel, release pressure, seal, restart. This is of course assuming you have at least a half cup of water/liquid in it. It needs the water/liquid to create the steam that pressurizes it.

I have tried making chicken biryani more than 10 times. Each time there is a burn message. I have tried deglazing, cooling pot, transferring ingredients and even saute all my ingredients in another pot before transferring and layering, but still i get the burn sign.

I just started using mine yesterday and made some soup. While it was pressurizing the BURN message would flash in and out on ON. I turned it off, wasnt pressurized at all, and tried again and it was fine. Today im cooking beans and the same thing happened except I ignored it, and the message went away, and everything looks normal, and nothing is burned, perfect beans! …….???? Might have to try the water test to see if maybe its defective. So weird. Could it be that the outside of the inner pot was a tiny bit wet? I had just pulled it from the dishwasher.

Anything we make gives us this BURN message with next to no burning evident, scrub the pot and return our ingredients then get a BURN error. Very disgruntled and annoyed! Thanks for all the tips, we tried them all.

6,856 views, guess I’m not the only one burning food in the Instant Pot! Twice I’ve removed my food, cleaned the pot and let it cool. And again, third time “Burn Food” message. Texas Chili is now simmer in the ol’ dutch oven pot on the stove. Thank you so much for your video! Very well done and informative.

I just had this in my new pot, thank you for this video! I mixed rice & water according to directions plus kale and white fish. The meal recipe says "8 minutes" but after 2 minutes I receive burn message. I hit cancel, removed the food. Food though was totally done. (Weird, huh?) We ate the food. Yum then I soaked the pot to scrub.

I used four times the amount of water needed and still got the burn message. It was noodles though and the first thing I tried to cook. Thank you so much for this video.
