My first time trying one of your recipes. Really good, will be nice on my Thanksgiving table. Thank you!
His inflection 🤦🏻♀️🤪
Mine separated into a royal mess during those 3 minutes. :C
Aside from our backs, what other parts are you holding?
😂
One pan method just means less clean up, gotta try it
Wheres the baked video
… or some diced ham, would be nice.
Chef John, some of your techniques blow my mind! I love the shortcuts I find for some of my favorite things, like Mac and Cheese! I just made the best one ever, my ingredients, my way. Loved it! 😋
Chef John,
You suggest mushrooms as an M&C addition? Yucch!
Real food is a much better choice. Some ham, some bell pepper some good dogs or smoked sausage.
I think a lot of your recipes and I’m grateful to you, I don’t care for this one. It doesn’t really take much longer to make it the other way because you can cook your ruin your sauce while the pasta is boiling you don’t have to bake it and I think it’s much more rich and cheesy that way. I add white pepper, salt and dry mustard to the sauce plus fine grated real Parmesan or Pecorino Romano to the bread crumbs for extra crunch and yumnosity.
NOPE, You need to cook the pasta in a separate pot as all the starch gets in the sauce and ruins taste
In this case, it’s not capillary action, it’s capellini action
Omg……THE BEST!!!
"Chef John has your back…among other parts" im dying!! 🤣🤣🤣
i made this, and while the flavor is good, the texture comes out watery and lumpy. what did i do wrong? 🙁
Tried this today and it cam out so good! thank you for this
So when i tried to make this my cheese got really clumpy and the milk didn’t evaporate.. so i. Was left with a clumpy watery mess 🙁 can anyone help me out as to why this happened ? What did i do wrong?
Where do I find a whole nutmeg???
This is what I’m taking about. Simple. With no nonsense ingredients.

Capillary reaction 🤣🤣🤣
I love you Chef John
This recepie looks delicious and healthy, too!!🍝🍝🍝
As long as you are not the generalissimo Franco of your buttered Panko
My food wish is a shrimp au gratin over rice. (Shivers). I am excited to try this method. My family is big on mac n cheese. We make it the hard way, happily, with a cheese and breadcrumb crust. Most importantly though is the green onions. Try it. Enjoy!
This came out so delicious! I added leafy greens and mushrooms into my mac and cheese for extra veggie boost. Thank you, Chef!!
Bless you for making a roux-less Mac and cheese recipe I can actually make.
There is a tune to the way he is talking if u pay attention. Sounds like he is trying to rap, almost.
I’m blown away by how simple this recipe is.
Mine was grainy, curdly. I used organic whole milk. Was it too hot? Determined to get this right! I would love not to have to make a roux. I will keep trying Chef John
Dang I made this recipe but I ended up being way too salty for me :/
Edit: i accidentally used salted butter. I see my mistake…
Great starter recipe for 'better than the box' Mac and Cheese! Too much salt for me as written, I'd half it. I love a good runny Mac but 8 oz of noodle was a little too runny. I'd recommend 10-12 oz. Other than that my only recommendation would be (if you have an electric cooktop like me) is turn the heat off before stirring in your cheese. Once the cheese is fully incorporated, then put the lid on and move it off the stove completely for the 3 mins so it doesn't separate as some have noted. My favorite combo with Mac is broccoli and jalapeno! Enjoy!
