Lentil soup. A little bit of sofrito (puertorrican seasoning consisting of everything fresh small sweet peppers, onions, cilantro, garlic cloves and coriander leaves blended together with a little bit of water and u can freeze or put in the fridge in a jar), tomato paste, then add potatoes, carrots, onions, peppers, garlic powder, cumin powder, sea salt, pepper, you can even add pumpkin pieces, and add a little coconut milk. Its the best lentil soup. 😋😋😋

I like roasted red bell pepper strips diced finely and put into salads with Italian dressing…pretty classic in our area! I’ve only had lentils once when I was a kid, and thought it was yucky, so I have no idea how to cook them, never tried again. Also, with hard/dried out bread, you can pound it or grind it for bread crumbs to bread chicken or other meat, as a topping for casseroles, or cut into cubes, fry them a little with whatever flavors you like, bake them a short amount of time, and you have homemade croutons! We love our vacuum sealer, it’s great for buying a lot of meat on sale and then being able to store it in the freezer for a long time. That chuck roast would be a pot roast ASAP, lol! The steak is making me drool, I love steak so much!!

I don't keep alot of lentils in my pantry but I have heard that you can use them in place of ground beef or stretch your ground beef with half lentils half ground beef mixed with taco seasoning to make tacos. I vacuum seal all of my meats to make them last longer. And that bacon either use it right away or vacuum seal it and freeze it. Great haul.

Coconut water is great to keep on hand for tummy bugs because it is a natural electrolyte.
A non-food option for the lentils is to use them in "rice socks."
We have gotten some amazing meat and other products form the food bank that we never would have gotten because of price. It's fun getting to try new things!

You certainly get some excellent cuts of meat at your food pantry. I was a client at area food banks here for a long time. They provided nice meat but on the lower price end. I was always happy to get it. You were wise to fill your pantry with items that was more than you could eat at the time. These are uncertain times right now with the national food shortages.

Cook the lentils to your desired texture. Season to use in tacos or as sloppy Joe’s or bbq sandwiches. You can add the lentils to burger to extend it or make out of just the lentils.

Cut up tomatoe onions and ham or bacon. Boil the lentils with garlic powder, onion powder, and knorr consome (bullion), cook the meat and veggies in a bit of oil until almost cooked, them add them to the lentils and let them finish cooking with them. You can eat with rice, or by its self. Its very filling and delicious.
