My grandfather's best friend was Korean. They met as soldiers and he came to the US when I was 4. I'm 50 and although they both have passed, Mr. Kims love for ARMY stew has stayed with me in my heart and on my table at least once a week. Every time I Cook it I can hear him say 'ahh Chelle, add what you have and be warm'. I miss them dearly.
I’ve never had Korean food before, are there any simple but really good recipes you can recommend? Korean culture has been an interest of mine for a bit now.
I've never had this dish (tho I really want too) but I love the story behind it and how people still love to have it to this day, and the fact that there is no set way on making it, it just take what you have and put it in the dish and just eat and be warm and full,

When I first saw it my jaw dropped and my first thought was “that would taste so good I can almost taste it through the screen”
I feel it odd that I've never heard of this. I guess america just really doesn't want us to know crappy things we've done to other countries.
Also why did the Korean government restrict American food during a food shortage?
There is vegan spam out now you know

As a white guy, even Korean Garbage Stew sounds delicious, although I cant say much since my diet is mainly instant noodles and beans 😅
if this is garbage then idk what i am!
nah nah nah it's called "garbage stew" cause I will eat so much of it I will become as full as a garbage bag
Your voice is therapy for me..
I want all of that right now please omg 😭
I think so many have competed making soups or stews, even meatloaf, but these meals came from hard times when food and money was short.
Dumb question: Why would Korean nationals want to retain something from such a terrible time for them? It does not look appetizing either.
Food is fuel, but sometimes you can make it more.
I read the title as "cabbage stew"🥲
❤ love your stories , embracing your family love is everything
Omggg I miss your videos, they don’t even come on my feed anymore 😭. Thank you auntie I hope you’re having a great start to your new year 🎉🎉
