I cook my chickpeas from dry without soaking.
I rinse them well, then add to the instant pot with 4 times the amount of water (don't add salt). Cook on high (pressure cook button) for 30 mins, and natural release for at least 20 mins. Turn off keep warm before starting cooking. This gives a nice soft but not mushy chickpea.

I do the same for black beans cook for 18-20 mins depending on how you like them. Same for yellow soya beans, pinto beans, etc.

    Good luck.

Soaking beans overnight helps to remove some of the lectins in the beans. So I always soak them before cooking in the InstantPot. Plus it reduces the cooking time so requires less energy.

The two larger pairs of glasses for me. I think the multi coloured ones are too small for your face, the others frame you better if that makes sense? But it’s all personal taste innit? X

I prefer the multi coloured glasses. They look great on you. As for unsoaked chickpeas, you can cook in the IP uncooked but I'm not sure 10 minutes is long enough. Googling it suggestions are between 20 to 40 minutes. 10 minutes is for pre soaked. But if you give it a go and they're not fully cooked you can always do them for a bit longer. Not an ad but if anyone's interested, I love my Instant Pot so much I'm getting a second one, they're only £59.99 on Amazon Prime day at the moment.

I like the multi-colored glasses the best, but go for comfort! I find if you cook dry chickpeas it can take 40-45 min to cook as some are older (which take longer), the 10 min & release. Most times I soak mine over night and then can cook them in about 15 min in the I pot (cover 1-2 inches of water) and use natural release.. Recipes are always welcomed! 🙂

Hi Paul. I shouldn't watch your food vlogs late evening because they make me feel peckish lol. Can't help with chickpea as I use tinned. As for the specs, you carry them all off really well so not much help there either. Love Fredaxx

I like the rainbow armed specs best, and then the turquoise ones; the dark frames look serious and are right for the newscast. Lots of suggestions for the chickpea recipe below, so good luck! TFP!

    Love the multi color ones!

I can't be bothered to soak my chickpeas & beans before putting in my Instantpot. They do need much longer than 3 min though, especially from dry. Can't recall off top of my head time though. Best tasting chickpeas I've ever had!

hi Paul. You crack me up. lol. Love you. Okay so with the beans I never soak them first however you must cook them longer (I'd say 40 mins or so)when they are not soaked. Note: you'll have more tooting when you don't soak. Soaking removes the gassy nature of the beans. Love the little glasses w/blue & pink arms but they all look good on you. You are so stylish!

Hi Paul, I just wanted to let you know I love your content. Your down to earth nature and easy to replicate meals make Veganism so accessible to day to day living. I would love your one guy takes on chickpea in the instant pot. I love all your glasses and as a fellow glasses wearer think they all suit you. However, I must say I think the bigger frames suit your face structure better and the blue works with your hair and lighter outfits and gives you some colour but the black highlights your features.

Dry chickpeas is totally okay, but rather 30 to 35 minutes. Did you receive the cooking time chart I sent you? It states both, for soaked and dry. Soaked are said to be easier on the tummy, but I don't really have that problem.

I’m going to be no help at all! You are just someone that generally suits glasses. I love the black ones but to be fair, the other two suit your personality and your wardrobe more! See, told you, no help! 🤓

Chickpeas 9 – 14 minutes soaked, 30 – 40 minutes unsoaked, depending on how old your chickpeas are. I have a list of cooking times in the front of one of my cook books – let me know if you'd like a copy.

Non soaked chickpeas can go in the instant pot the cooking time just increases 😊 I always use the cooking guide and then sometimes add 5 min for non soaked just in case cause I like them a bit more soft

Multi coloured specs get my vote, but the most comfortable take the cake every time.

Good luck with the chickpeas – they don’t need soaking, as they cook from bullet to bean in a pressure cooker in around 18-20 mins. My understanding is instant pot is pressure cooker plus slow cooker and the ability to fry, so one option is similar.

Pressure cooking- SOAKED chick peas would take 3 mins. Dried 15-20, depending on size.

As I said, that’s for good old fashioned pressure cooker, but I can’t see it being THAT different.

    Interested to see the result.
    Big hugs x

Chickpea dry take over an hour. Forever in Instant pot time. Soak those puppies overnight or do a quick soak 1-2 hours in boiled water. I think I cooked them for 15 minutes. They were perfect – whole but smashed into a very creamy texture. The hummus was amazing. And you're adorable in either pair frame.

Love making a left over vegetable stew into a curry – just add a few spicy bits and off you go, like a different meal if you have it twice in 2 days. It’s impossible not to make a massive pot full to start with stew. Fab videos as always, see you on the live x

I love these vids! Loving the second glasses (the black ones).
Really hope you can love the instant pot as much as I love mine.
I just made some vegan ‘meatballs’ and used my pot to cook the puy lentils (as it’s cheaper than pre packed!!)
