Barr is so down to earth and knowledgeable and I enjoy his history lesson. He know his food for sure.
I want to go to B&H. We are lucky to get many of these dishes in our area of PA. I am familiar with all of them. So glad you finally did something different!

Sorry guys but I want my bagel toasted 😋
15:53 Hanukkah starts Nov 28 this year, not September.
"Many people don't realize…that the Lower East Side is where many Jews got their start"? Who are those "many people" who don't know that?
Not toasted if it’s fresh! But if it’s been sitting out all day you gotta get it toasted

Your guide is a typical chauvinistic New Yorker who only knows New York..and nothing else. Of course there are better bagels, latkes, blintzes, and Nova Lox. Jews from Poland and Russia also came to Canada along with their recipes and know how. To dish Montreal bagels without probably trying them is anathema. Regular Toronto, Montreal and New York bagels are very similar if not the same. They’re great but do not come close to the St Viateur bagels from Outremont in Montreal. Initially simmered in honey water then baked in wood fired brick ovens, my NY friends and my Toronto friends all know these are the best. Latkes can also be served with sour cream. Give it a try but for my fave, a hefty serving of pastrami served between two latkes (the Congo Latke) served at the former Noshery, cannot be beat. New Yorkers have a right to be proud of their food which may be right up there but it ain’t the b all to end all. Cheers, Colin.

Such an awesome vid. I'm a Jewish guy from NYC that moved to Brasil. I miss this food so much. Have learned to make some but it's not the same. Next trip my first stop is gonna be B&H!
