My husband worked at a job for 20yrs but it was time to leave. They decreased benefits drastically, raised the retirement age. Cut employees and cut investment in the business making it harder to do his job. When they offered a buyout, we took it. He worked at a job that was a poor fit for 3 yrs and left. It was the wilderness. But he came out with a better paying job with excellent benefits and was happy with this job. He is retiring soon. Change can be tough, but beneficial.

Best wishes to you and your family as you traverse this time in your life.

I typed in budget cooking and your video came up but I received inspiration in addition to the recipes !! If you could keep me in prayer ( Irene) that God humbly grants me a job that is suited for me. Thank you if you include me in your prayers !

We often forget that God is Sovereign and does with His creation as He pleases.
I was in your shoes and wound up homeless.

"Oh God will never allow x, y, z"
    Yes He does………..

    Stay the course

Considering the downsizing of many Christian denominations over the past few decades, & especially in this credit crunch/ recession, no-notice job loss or drastic cuts in hours worked, is going to be the new normal in many regions!! Same with many other jobs/ industries… so many are in the same boat… Help yourself, your family, your friends & your neighbors together to weather this setback!!

Love your attitude, it's so true that none of this was a surprise to God!

Thank you for sharing the cupcake recipe, I just made a batch using what I had on hand. I used a triple chocolate cake mix, vanilla pudding, and ricotta cheese instead of sour cream, they turned out great. We don't like frosting so it's easy for me to just throw them in the freezer for later.

Hearing about you and your family with your husband's job sounds just like what has happened with my pastor and his family in last couple months. I love you Mindy. So inspiring. Im not a fan of the 'wilderness" as we've faced that too many times in our life. I have learned that God is SO trustworthy and if He puts you there, He will be there with you and it will always turn out good.

Thank you for sharing your journey. My husband is not a pastor but we are heavily involved in ministry at our church and i often think about how much it would turn our lives upside down if we had to leave for some reason.

I needed this message so much. Husband left his job 3 years ago. I have been the sole provider.. but this reminded me, GOD has been the one providing for us. He has opened the doors for me to make it easier on my family.

wow….my husband resigned from his management position at our catholic parish about three months ago too. No new job yet but at least he left with his integrity. As for me….I'm still struggling with the concept. Such a curve ball for our family.

Dear Mindy – just wanted you to know my prayers and positive thoughts are added to the many mentioned by your family, friends and fans. I hope you will not be in "limbo" for long, and that the perfect offer will present itself. Thanks for keeping us in mind and still presenting us with frugal options while your own world is flipping a little. I've had church challenges over the years, too, and the fact that the upset comes from your place of safety and comfort can really rock your faith. But, God may be perfect, but all of us servants are not. Take care, and keep the faith!
