I made this the other night and it was wonderful. Rather than bake the eggplant slices I put them on a very hot gas BBQ grill. That worked well and only took a few minutes until they were nice and flexible. The grill marks were a nice touch too.

Well, was so intrigued but very reserved. We made this last night and I have to say that three of us had never had a tastier meal and any reservations completely gone! The only thing I did differently was, (as you suggested) added 1lb 80/20 beef sautéed Onion and 1 Tbsp. Garlic to the meat. Then added the sauce. It was truly an amazing meal! Thanks again for an epic recipe. I guess you could make a layered lasagna?
