These are so pretty. Deep-fry them instead of steaming them and you have one of my favourite Chinese sweets. I also think char siu and a bit of hoisin sauce would turn them into fantastic sandwiches.

Hallo Marion, how can I replace the milk powder in THIS recipe? Or where can I find the other recepe you talked about? The knots look absolutely beautiful and I would like to make them, too.

My grandfather used to make these. They were our favourites as kids but no one knew the recipe. I do remember he also used a little salt with the oil, gave a great taste. Thanks for the recipe!

Our closest bao restaurant (6 miles away) closed a few months ago and we were devastated.

I went looking for recipes and found Marion’s Kitchen and started making them myself and it has changed everything!

I now have my own steamer and have been making Bao’s for friends and family using your recipes and everyone absolutely love them.

When they ask where I learned to make them, I always tell them to get on Youtube and search for Marion’s Kitchen.

I once took a batch to my friends work for him to try and his colleagues ask me if I was a chef…

    Not even close mate!

Like the previous comment we are 100% getting a bigger steamer so we can make more in less time

Thank you Marion you have saved cheat day in our wee Scottish house!

It’s a sad brag, but I’m getting a bigger rice steamer from my husband this Christmas because we have become obsessed with bao buns. This recipe is probably gonna tip us over the edge!
