Could you comment on whether or not the Instant Vortex gives off a chemical/plastic smell? I've read that this is an issue in some reviews on Amazon. If it does, might you have a tip for getting rid of that smell??

I have been resistant to air fryers, but as a singleton, I am looking more and more for appliances that can cook smaller meals. I have no use for a big oven and want something that cooks meals of no more than two servings. After watching this, I feel like an air fryer might be in my near future. Thanks for the tips, Ladies!

One thing that I love about America's Test Kitchen is that they really do stand by their recommendations. You will very often see recommended products being used in videos long after they attained that status. Case in point: The sponge Hannah used to demonstrate cleaning an air fryer heating element is an O-Cedar Scrunge, ATK's top pick for kitchen sponges.

The thing about nonstick for me is not the health issue, it's more the environmental issue. Nonstick doesn't break down, ever. That's why they call them 'forever chemicals'

What a couple of counter hogging unitaskers, wouldn't want one if you gave it to me. I LIVE by my Cuisinart CTOA-130PC3 AirFryer Toaster Oven, which does SO many things brilliantly, from proofing to toasting to baking to roasting to oven temps as low as 100 F, and believe it or not to excellent air frying. Other than going for the groceries, it leaves nothing wanting. I've never had a problem with mess (common sense at work there). It is not the happiest solution for pizza even with a stone or screen as convection and pizza just don't do well together. You can choose high or low convection but you can't turn it off when baking,

As someone that lives alone, a small air fryer has saved me a lot of electricity. My apartment gets very hot, so turning the oven on is just not something I want to do, especially in the some. I could survive in a tiny place with a rice cooker, air dryer, and kettle. Of course I cook larger meals and use the big appliances too, but day-to-day the more efficient, mini appliances are perfect.

Also can you tell me the INTERNAL dimensions of the Instant Vortex pro Clearview model? I can't seem to find it anywhere and even on Amazon no seller has answered that question. Thanks!

Hi, I'm seriously considering buying the Instant Vortex with the clear view basket from Amazon EU as I live in Italy. The problem is that the filters are not available in Europe and must be imported from the US, paying exorbitant shipping costs and import duties. Lots of European purchasers have complained abput this. Are the filters necessary? It isn't an option that I particularly care about and probably a bit of water and lemon or vinegar when cleaning will take care of any smell. Will the appliance work without the filter or without changing the old filter?

I purchased the Ninja foodie grill and love it. I never had an issue with the top element being a burn risk, I have plenty if room to flip food. I cook steak, burgers, chicken on the grill setting. Basically its my winter grill. My son eats gluten free and I can make copycat chicken sandwiches whenever he wants one in the time it takes to heat my big oven.

I hated the GoWise models. They're not just 'less intuitive', they're straight up cumbersome to use. The baskets fail fast and feel rickety with the weird design. And I can't imagine using Pam in my air fryer especially a surface that is already nonstick…or even ever at all for that matter. Pam will destroy nonstick surfaces and makes them so much more difficult to clean because of the silicone.

And you picked Insta/GoWise over Ninja. Pretty bunk video overall.

I wish they would give recommendations for products that don't use Teflon, have plastic that contacts food, etc. I get the minimum temperature assurance, but I don't want to find out ten years from now that they were wrong.

I was pretty anti-Air fryer for a while unto Mike from Pro home cooks finally convinced me. Everything he was cooking was a single guy like me ate. I ended up getting the Cosori Double burner model. I use it all the time now.

I've had a Cosori AF for years & absolutely love it! It's basically replaced my oven & microwave. Funnily, earlier this week, I was wondering if you could add water in the base for moisture/steam & you answered that – thank you!
