Presenter Michael Buerk and chef Anna Haugh cook a dish from an Edwardian full English breakfast. Dr Polly Russell leafs through some precious manuscripts …

I studied in England for four years. British know how to do interesting history programs. Always enjoyable to watch
I absolutely love these videos. Keep them coming!
When does the rest of the world STOP DISCRIMINATING against English Cookery ?? What would e.g. the French be without it ?? (By the way, to me this is the way Mrs. Bridges (UKTV serial early 1970s) was cooking rather than anybody at Downton Abbey)
Curious what is giving the polenta such an orange hew, is there turmeric in the stock or…?
Michael: "Ah, yes, the bacon has such a lovely taste of… bacon!"
Me: [nods sagely] "It most certainly does."
Michael & Anna are wonderful. This series is wonderful.
In the southeastern USA, we fry ham and add coffee to the grease to make what is known as red eye gravy. Pull a fluffy biscuit apart and put red eye gravy on the biscuit. Our biscuits look very much like your scones but quite different in texture. https://www.whitelily.com/recipes/white-lily-light-and-fluffy-biscuits-3790

Excellent cooking show. Thanks for a fantastic cooking class. Happy New Year.
Always wondered why these guys share 1 serving instead of a serving apiece?
Josh and Ollie need to watch this, they always like to bash English food and prefer Korean food,,, honestly, I like the British one better than the Korean one.
Incredibly informative.. and super-endearing back-and-forth between Michael and Chef Anna. Very natural conversation – Fun!
Michael: “Apparently we spend roughly £76,000,000 per day on going out for brunch and breakfast.”
For my friends on my side of the pond—For reference that is approximately $106.5 million in American money. Wow!
I haven’t looked up the statistics to check, but I bet we Americans spend more, so no judgement intended.
He is just so stinking cute!
Breakfast like a King, lunch like a Prince, and dinner like a Pauper. Bon Appetit !
They ate puffins. Cute little puffins.
Polenta is just water, cornflour, and salt. Please don't spoil Italian recipes. No butter in the polenta!
There is something in this that reminds me of Downton Abbey kitchen. Even Anna Haugh bears resemblance to Anna Bates! 😉
"TASTING HISTORY " WITH MAX MILLER" IS MY NEW YOUTUBE ADDICTION. HE WAS THE FIRST HISTORIAN TO TURN ME ON TO "THE FORME OF CURY". THE FIRST "RECEIPT" Medieval word for "recipe" we made was a Brie tart which was Richard II's nummy dessert. SUBSCRIBE TO MAX'S CHANNEL…because MAX IS AMAZING! HIS SHOW IS AMAZING! AND SO MUCH FUN!! ! AND YOU LEARN STUFF, TOO! MAX RULES!!!

This host is so good. And so handsome.
my new favorite channel!
Would you please provide recipes to go along with these videos? I understand that recipes appeared in BBC magazine when this series first aired.
Bertie, Edward VII, was nicknamed "tum-tum."
I'm gonna try that last one I'm getting hungry watching
Perfect for 11ses……. LoL😂😂
I love those old scrolls. Very clever boxes to contain them.
The British are just fascinating to me.
I just made the bacon 🥓…the best bacon I have ever made in my kitchen…thank you wholeheartedly 🇨🇦💕
Royal 👑 chef 👩🍳 has royal politeness
So this has NOTHING to do with the full English breakfast. Just breakfast items. Thumbs down!
It's so fascinating to see what royalty ate in a different time. It is also very inspiring for recipes to make nowadays.
I applaud and thank this channel so much for inspiring just a normal home cook like myself.
Lovely
Pealmeal bacon sandwiches are one if Canada’s great culinary legacies and so underrated.
I was really hoping for an explanation of why Brits like to start their day farting. Why do they eat beans for breakfast?
I love it when u explain the taste, eat and show us how good it is 👍🏼
Greetings from Canada! So glad to see another episode, please keep them coming! What a great pair Michael and Anna are 🙂
Seriously??? Do they really have to eat from the same plate?
annna you dont make polenta like that
😂 Anna is the best, she's trying so hard not to tell the host to please stfu.
