Stumbled upon this video and I tried it out yesterday. It turned out really well. Great flavor. There was a lot of upside to this method. I will say a couple things to anyone who is going to attempt this: if you use shrimp that isn’t pre peeled, the butter makes it a little challenging to remove the shells while you eat.. simply because the butter makes them pretty slippery. The only other thing that I wish I’d done a little differently would be the boiling of the corn and potatoes. While the “crab boil” definitely gives the corn an potatoes a great flavor, they didn’t have the flavor of the shrimp seasoning mixture. Next time I think I’ll add the same seasoning and some butter to the boil water. One thing I did to salvage that was I ended up saving a few pints of the boil water in a side container, after the corn and potatoes were done (stock at that point, I guess), and I made another batch of the butter/seasoning in the bottom of the pot, and once the onion and garlic was ready, I added the stock to the mixture, simmered for a few mins, then poured it over the corn and potatoes to marinate a bit. Thanks for the great recipe. I enjoyed it and it was really fast!

This recipe is good. The method is tidy and the food will be rich in flavour due to sautéing the ingredients.
However, it isn't a shrimp boil. It's simmered veg and fried shrimp using the conventional boil ingredients.

I’ve made shrimp boils the conventional way by adding everything to the flavored water at their different times of cooking. I came upon your video and gave it a try. Sautéing the onion garlic and shrimp in butter gave it an extra richness and flavor. Everything is good in butter, right. I added andouille sausage. Great recipe. I’ll be making my boil this way from now on. Thanks.

Omg, I just tried your recipe, and my husband and I love it. So so good, and filling. I followed it to a tee but added some sausage links to it. I finally found a shrimp boil I love. Thank you
