Really grateful you do this, so many thanks, shame Malcolm Reed's BBQ rub was not included, thought you could have put salt and pepper on all ribs then add the rubs, also you should have put them in order of heat (spice) with the lowest heat first as otherwise the heat from the previous rub could adversely affect the next rub, possibly affected the honey chipotle rub? But interesting to watch many thanks

    Great vid.
Surprised no ones asking for Zero to Hero. I’ve tried a ton of rubs but still go back to that. Rib tickler is pretty great on ribs as well.
Thanks for putting in the work!

Great review! Didn't realize that rubs with more ingredients block smoke absorption, but that makes sense. I like a deeper smoke flavor as well, so I'm going to cut a rack of ribs in half and do 1/2 S&P and 1/2 of that VooDoo rub.

Would love to see more of these videos testing other rubs with a final showdown video of the top rubs tested . Try some Killer Hogs The bbq rub And Chupacabra rub. Maybe add a third judge and make it a blind test to eliminate any preconceived notions.

I dont eat pork but 1 of my favorite rubs is 3lil pigs competition rub i use it on briskets…. outstanding rub….. some tines when u got a rub sitting its good to shake it up a little because some seasonings are heavier than others….

Excellent video. I'm a SPG guy. I have a whole tub full of rubs and I still find myself enjoying dalmatian or SPG the most. Lately I have found that using S&P or SPG as main base, and then finishing with a rub as just an accent turns out awesome results. My ratio is about 75% S&P or SPG to 25% rub.

Love the videos, i love Kosmos'q rubs but i usually layer them for max flavor. Try a base coat of Hot Dirty Bird followed by a coat of SPG and they are awesome. Keep on grillin' my friend.

Is there a chance some of these rubs are formulated to combine with a certain sauce? Or are these considered stand alone rubs for “dry” ribs only? And I also wonder how allowing the ribs to sit awhile after applying the rub might affect flavor penetration. Still made me dang hungry! I kept yelling for you to pick up the S&P chunk that dropped – it never even hit the floor!

Does apple cider vinegar change the taste? I've never sprayed with that before regardless of what I'm cooking. I always use apple juice or pineapple juice. I know apple cider vinegar smells horrible, so does that transfer to the food in any way?
