Is there a noticeable difference in flavor between lard & bacon fat? I cook my beans with bacon and simply let the rendered fat provide the fat for refrying. A local Mexican meat market sells refried beans along with their barbacoa and they are the best I have ever eaten and are a different color. I figure they use fresh rendered lard from a hog because they also sell fresh chicharones…. Thanks for the video and Cloud needs to talk more, I like halls dynamic! If anyone doesn’t like it they can turn down the volume. 😂😂😂

Gurl, you posted this at the perfect time for me. I made my closest version of this tonight, I just had to use vegetable oil instead of lard because it was all that I had, and so I didn't do the refry, but they are still the BEST pinto beans I have personally ever made. Thank you so much! I have been a fan of yours for a long time but never commented. You are an amazing chef! You blessed me today!❤Bless you and your family right back. 💋

I always asked myself, “Why don’t my refried beans taste like my mom’s?” When I asked her to show me her technique I realized, it’s all in the lard. I was using a bit of cooking spray 🤦🏻‍♀️
