I'm not sure that this recipe was such a great idea. Not everyone likes Cranberry sauce, so I would have left that out. As for the frozen mixed veggies, that's pretty much a no-no when it comes to Thanksgiving unless one is going for semi-homemade (which is not all that bad, mind you), but still most people prefer to cook fresh veggies when it comes to Thanksgiving. I will say that I would actually make this, omitting the cranberry sauce and pie crust and would just use the mashed potatoes for the crust.

we called it Shepherd's pie, had it after every Thanksgiving and Christmas, because there were so many leftovers. My Mom didn't make a crust, just threw everything in the casserole dish, topped with mashed potatoes, and baked, loved it
