Well at this point, the Company has replied, by suggesting, I visit the FAQ for assistance, I am missing something in the sealing procedure, lastly they ignore all my attempts to email them. the best solution would be to adopt the method as used on Kuhn Rikon or Presto, bringing their version of a pressure cooker in line with what has been used since the invention of the Pressure Cooker, Except for the convenience of the Instant Pot and its programming I now feel I will begin paying more attention to my neglected Kuhn Rikon who has been feeling depressed since the arrival of the Instant Pot.

This is our second unit, and it was the same issue with both models. There is a design issue with the Float Valve in the Instant Pot. Not one of my pressure cookers, I have 5 of various sizes have ever had the problem. I have as I said, been using a pressure cooker since my mother taught me after the war (WWII) I have owned several different makes of pressure cookers, the Pressure Cookers have a spring on the Float valve to hold the seal on the lid. If the Instant Pot was to change there design it would solve the issue.

I do not want to sound like a broken record. I have been using a pressure cooker type of pot for almost as long as I can remember being taught by my mother as a child. I am now 80 years old. My Sealing ring is clean, installed correctly, The Sealing Valve is cleaned and working correctly. My problem is the float valve, which functions I identically to all my Pressure cookers. Can as I may, replace the sea, replace the stem. clean the hole it sits in.
The float valve refuses to consistently rise to allow pressurization of the pot.
There are times when I have to manually hold the Float valve in place to allow the Instant Pot to come up to pressure. This is not as intended, this is not how the instant pot is designed to work. If I replace the Float valve with en entirely new float valve it works.
This lasts about three uses. no matter how much it is cleaned. We have soft water so it is not an invisible calcium built up. I have also tried cleaning the Float Valve in Vinegar, in CLR, ETC Soap and water works just fine. Maximum uses int three times and the Float Valve has to be 1. held manually until the pressure comes up, 2. Replace the Float Valve.
I like the concept of the instant pot, I use it to make Soup all the time, Chile some times, Spanish Rice some times, Mostly Soup, so the content is a very liquid base. No body at the Company will acknowledge the issue. Which is not helpful.

Nothing you suggested was helpful. But I figured it out by my self. Low pressure setting does not allow my apparatus to pressurerize… In steam mode I mean. Why, I don't know.

I have a duo plus and iv checked all thor's over and over and even kept buying different brand rings off Amazon with great ratings and everything and I still can't figure out how to get my instant pot to reach pressure. For the past maybe 10 times now out of 15 my food cooked all the way and even over cooked bc the time won't start but it was cooking my food the whole time. The steam comes from everywhere on the top. The little notch I'd up all the way saying their is pressure everytime. If I catch it in time I just keep taking it off and on (the lid) and hope it works …by then food is always gross after cooking

Hi, I have the same pot bought here in Australia under HomeMaker Brand. I recognised the 2 lid knobs exactly the same. I think your advice with the Twist Vent Knob is right but you didn't mention the other pressure push valve beside it. This push valve (red on mine) has no spring to keep it closed so ex-factory my pot can NEVER build up any pressure due to this valve that stays open by gravity. All it does is shoot out steam to make it look like pressure. Even just one atmosphere pressure 14.4psi is enough to scald or 2nd degree burn your arm. Car radiator caps are 14psi and many drivers know how these can blow steam. Proper steam cooking is just too dangerous for these thin aluminium pots so they are almost a scam. Still I applaud your warning and help.

my vent valve wont sit properly on it after cleaning. Today noticed a small wire (butternut squash shaped) on the lid where the vent valve goes on. But have no idea how it supposed to be placed… Anyone???

Main problem I've ever encountered is when I've prepared the food, put it in the Instant Pot and turned it on. A few minutes later hear the error message- oops, forgot to put water in it. LOL Thanks for the video!
