🤔When you rebel can, do you finger tighten or tighten more??
Is rebel canning only for waterbath canning??
Great information, thank you!
Canning is a beneficial hobby for me. I try to can almost every year. My garden was not the best last summer, but I had plenty from the year before. Thank you for sharing. I enjoy watching and knowing you are providing for your family. 🙂
My mom had reused jars but she has been canning for 50 years and when I was a kid we used wax to seal our jelly jars and never had any problems. I have never reused jars but I have canning jars that I reuse and I have reused the lids and rings many of times once in a while one of the lids will fail and I trash them and every few years I grab some new ones this year my mom gifted me lids and rings for Christmas so I am ready for canning the garden this summer.
Pouring into a pitcher is a great idea! Saving that in the back of my mind.
Thanks so much i have tons of jars.
I really want to learn to pressure can. I have all of the stuff but I'm so intimidated!
I only use water bath. Don't have pressure canner.
I have never re-canned or re-processed bulk foods, but don’t see why it would be a problem, as many of us do use canned goods (example-tomato paste) in our canning recipes…. Essentially processing it again! Way to make use of what you have!
It's good to know you can reuse those jars. If l can anything,it's a small amount in smaller jars( like piccalilli n jelly)
I haven't had to reuse commercial jars. I have always had enough canning jars and lids. My mother did reuse jars. She always sterilized them first. We didn't have a dishwasher in those days, so it was boiling them for 10 minutes and then put in a warm oven. The lids would be in hot water just before use. I have saved some gently used flat lids this winter, but I think I have enough new ones for this year. I will continue to pick up flat lids as I see them just in case. Since I small batch can, I quickly rotate through my canned items.
