I do salt the water, but not heavily as the pasta absorbs the salt. I'm a cook and have tried it different ways. Light salt is my preference as the sauce is flavored. I also can't stand al dente, I don't believe it's the best way to serve pasta.

I always salt my water! Salting the water before you add the pasta is the best way to get evenly seasoned noodles. And you should wait until the water is actually boiling. This not only helps the salt dissolve faster, but it also protects your pot
