My mom was 100% Polish and passed when I was 15 over 30 years ago. She taught me how to bake but not cook. I had to learn thru trial and error how to cook. It took me a long time to get her cabbage rolls right. She used hamburger, rice, eggs, salt and pepper. She had 2 kids who hated onions and peppers so kept them plain. I top with tomato sauce and have noticed if I don't cook them all day in the slow cooker they are just awful. My first time ever making them in my instant pot are cooking right now, I'm so excited/scared to see how they turn out. My mom always made hers in this big Dutch oven and it was a big deal. When she made it she probably went thru 4-5 heads of cabbage and everyone came over for dinner that night. I'm now the only one in the family who still makes it.

Just curious, do you put potatoes in your chili? We grew up eating chili in our potatoes and we don't know if thats a Polish thing or what. Before my dad passed he couldn't remember if that was something that was in his family or hers. So happy to have found your channel. (oh I make the best Kolackys at Christmas time! That was one thing she did teach me to make)

I enjoy my pressure cookers. I use them almost everyday for something. I had an array of reasons that I needed several sizes.😉 My daughter is as pleased as I with how things turn out. I ordered a set of silicone deals. It lets me do layers of items..

You inspired me to try stuffed cabbage in my fagor pressure cooker. It looks just like your machine and serves as a slow cooker and some other things too. Tonight was my first try at stuffed cabbage. I found the recipe online last night. It called for the rice to be cooked first. I did not realize how much work went into making these. I got a new appreciation for my mom. She has passed on but she raised 3 kids and cooked and cleaned and just doing this wore me out. I have had 3 back surgeries and have copd so maybe that has something to do with it. They turned out good but I don't think I will make them again. Thanks for the inspiration!
