Love milk kefir but don’t love the cost? Don’t have grains because maybe you killed them already? Whatever the reason, I have …
Mine has sat out for 48 hours , it now has green floating on top of it. Is this normal?
Hello 👋🏼 thank you very much I luking the same thing how to make kefir 😅👍🏼
I made same way.thank you very much.
You are not making kefir. And you are using plastic anyway…
1/4c kefir per qt of milk to make more
Super simple
Not as wide spectrum as using kefir grains
I leave on counter 24 hrs
Then chill 12 hrs n it thickens well in fridge
Couldn't you just proof down your strong kefir with more milk?
Both pronunciations are wrong, though.
You can't make kefir without a starter colony of kefir grains.
I would put some tape or a sticker to id it because a marker lable could be overlooked.
Quantity of milk and kefir plz
Kee fur? You mean ka(y)- feer 😂
Pronunciation guide for kefir from someone who teaches Turkish and Russian students. It’s not /key-fur/ and it’s not /calf-fur/ and it’s not /Kay-fur/. The real way to say it is /ke/ as in “kettle” and the pronunciation of “fear”. So again the pronunciation is ke-fear.
Thank you does it need to be glass jug ? Please do more videos ❤
Didnt work for me
Thank you! I make yogurt with soy milk, so I’ll try this with my soy milk !
So, will grains grow from this process. Some say store bought Kefir has lower number of strains? Also will pasteurized milk work ok? Thx
I’m surprised how well it worked, most people have advised against this! I guess the difference is the store bought kefir has less strains of bacteria compared to kefir made with grains. Life way brand I believe only has 12 strains compared to 50+ strains in the grains
How much K-FR should be added to one gallon?🤔 I think Same amount of milk that was poured into the glass which the child drank 😅
This is a great method, but store bought kefir only has about 12-15 strains of probiotics. Kefir made from grains has 50+ strains of probiotics. I think the best way to do this is to use a culture started from kefir that was made from grains. This way you end up with a kefir that has alot more probiitics in it.
So if this works so well, why do other Youtubers categorically say that you can't use Kefir milk as a starter and that you can only use the grains?
It’s a shame you don’t give your kids milk … it’s a good for them . Great video and information 👏
Thanks I got my first batch on now
But you keep the lid closed? I'm surprised that works. The bacteria is needs oxygen. I would be worried that the resulting kefir is heavy on yeast.
After the 24 hours that’s when you put it in the fridge, right? How long does it normally take before it separates like that?
could have been 1 minute. hard work to watch, but if can get through it, useful
This does not make kefir grains. All it does is fermented milk to turn it more kefir like.
can i use the kefir from the grocery store that says it organic, however I believe they are all pasteurized. or am I able to make it with the organic liberte kefir from the store????
My understanding is that 1,000+ years ago, milk was stored in goat-stomach bags, where digestive enzymes helped preserve the milk. I'm guessing that an observant Bedouin noticed the grains, and saved them, producing more grains, with or without the goat stomach… a happy coincidence of the right bacteria & flora at the right time. That's my story, and I'm stickin' with it!
thanks.
Hmmm…I tried it for 48 hours. Nothing. Wonder what I did wrong.
In winter, how can I make it?
Thanks! It works great and it is delicious with whole milk. Plain Kefir is $3.79 per quart near me and whole mile is $2.69 a gallon. So can save big just have to buy the single quart of kefir then just add to milk. Will try to use the whole milk kefir in the next gallon of milk – should be ok and saves almost $12 per gallon.
I have always pronounced kefir the same as you.
Moved and now im being told its kah-feer 😂
Hi , I tried making this and mine turned out to be so bitter? What did I do wrong. I trashed it. Please let me know if anyone knows?
How can I know when it's going to expire?
Grains can be purchased online for $3 and can be frozen. It makes thicker kefir. I freeze portions of the milk liquid and use it in fruit smoothies. Delicious. When you cook milk kefir, the healthy bacteria is killed off.
The above method is good for making homemade yoghurt as well😊
750 ml milk : 47 ml kefir
1333 ml (a bag) milk : 80 ml kefir
NB: warm up the milk a bit before adding in kefir and wrap the mixture with blanket to keep warm can speed up the fermentation process, but to turn it upside down in 12 hours, and in 24 hours, taste it to see if it is done, then transfer the product to fridge.
1 US gallon milk = 3785 ml
uses 1 US cup commercial Kefir = 236.58 ml
16 ml milk: 1 ml kefir
750 ml milk : 47 ml kefir
1333 ml (a bag) milk : 80 ml kefir
1000 ml kefir ÷ 80 ml kefir = 12.5 bags
Thank you 🙏
Can i do this with goat yogurt, or A2A2 milk
