I personally don’t use the ham packet that comes with the 15 bean soup mix because I find it makes sit too salty. I use a leftover ham bone or sliced ham, or even ham hocks. If you have leftover ham juice. Even if it’s a little greasy, that adds tons of flavor! Plus the beans will soak it up. For my base, I use half beef broth and half spicy V8 juice, along with a can of diced tomatoes, a couple Tbsp of Worcestershire sauce, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and whatever other spices I feel like adding. Of course I start with the “holy trinity” of onion, carrots and celery, sautéed in bacon grease, or ham juices. I grew up baking ham very simply though…..we weren’t sweet or glazed kind of folks. Just slather a little yellow mustard on, and then coat liberally with garlic powder, and wrap up in tin foil. Delicious!

I know I'm watching the replay but I couldn't help looking at your big coffeemaker & regretting the fact that of all things we (movers & myself) forgot was to pack up my big coffeemaker and left it behind by accident. Thankfully I have an individual coffeemaker (not a Kuerig) that uses reg coffee grounds & I can use my coffee mugs with.

Funny thing that I found that did make it was my spare coffee carafe!!! So I have a carafe without a 12 cup coffeemaker.

People don't realize that when you work for yourself you work 10x harder. There is so much more gojng on behind the scenes. Sometimes I just shake my head at the misinformed people who judge people wighout knowing all the factors involved. As someone who worked for herself (family business) and worked in the corporate world, my office job was a piece of cake compared to the family business. You go girl, you're doing a fantastic job supporting your job and having fun doing it.

Without sounding lazy or having trolls attack me on this ,,, my kids had to know a lot before kindergarten, colors, shapes, tie there shoes , The entire alphabet, count to 10 spell there first name ,, then I got criticism for not having enough fun with them & letting them be kids ,,
Both working no matter the job is how the government has made it , in SD we pay taxes on EVERYTHING paying taxes on taxes ,, one income was for bills the other was for day care & the few school activities the kids wanted to be in ,,
I'm so thankful we are past that stage in life I have 2 Adult kids 4 grandchildren & my kids are amazing parents and providers , so I guess we did something right regardless of what others said or thought ,,
God can get us through anything & I'll never believe any different

food banks that I have been to here in Missouri are not very helpful to senior citizens plus the income amounts are ridiculous in order to be eligible.I don't know about now but when I was younger and had my 4 kids at home it really wasn't worth the time to go to the food banks.I am glad your food banks are there for the people
