I made this for my family tonight they loved it. I added a green bell Pepper and I rinsed off a can of black beans. It was very very good. Thank you for all these wonderful recipes. My son was oh I could eat just the filling and be happy and my daughter say mom this would be very good as just a dip too. Lol. I have been disabled for over ten years don’t cook much anymore. This recipe was so quick and easy only had to sit down a fe times while making it and then to hear how awesome it was. Made me feel young again lol

Just made this today (9/19/22) and was easy, quick and delicious. Was way too much for just the two of us so our neighbors are enjoying it as well. I just got the new cookbook and it is in there so it reminded me to try it as I hadn't yet, love the new cookbook, Really like that you included pics of the family in it.

I made this without even watching the whole video first! 😄 I added black beans to the meat too, also a few shakes of paprika. Otherwise, I mostly made the same recipe but with packaged hot taco seasoning (hot because I only had plain tomatoes, not Rotel) & homemade biscuit dough. I only had 2/3 the amount of cream chez & mayo, but it was still SO GOOD, and my hubby LOVED it! We bet tomorrow it will be even better! I told my daughter that it tasted like a cheeseburger with taco flavor.

I just want to know, in what part is this a "John Wayne" casserole? My mother is a huge collector of John Wayne things. I have spent years trying to find John Wayne stuff that she doesn't have. You never mentioned that this was his recepie or that he ate it at all. I would like to know, is this is just another southern cowboy recipie. Or is it real?

Never really heard of John Wayne casserole. Watched just to see what all was in it. Sounds like something I would like.
Nice camera work and super explanation of steps.
Curious if it can be frozen…does anyone know how these ingredients would thaw??? Thanks for a great recipe. Jesus bless from fellow Texan on I-10. 🙂
