This week I make Tortillas, Beef Stew in my Instant Pot & make a batch of delicious Tuna Mayonnaise. Frugal Queen in France …
As a country girl in Texas (and a transplant from the hills of WVA) I put buckwheat flour in my homemade pancake mix.
Super yummy and adds more flavor to the mix.
Fab cooking video Jane ๐xx
Could you tell me the type of flour used please.x
You're the French "FrugalMoneySaver". Haha I love both of your channels!
It was lovely to see your little dog. I am sure she is quite a character!
Love your videos, Jane!
Always love your videos
Can you share recipe for your GF pancakes and tortillas?
Thank you so much for the tortilla tutorial! I have the mesa flour but have been hesitant to try. And also was curious about storage – now I know. ๐

Is there anything nicer than a good beef stew on a cold winters day? I make mine like yours but I add diced Swede as my Mike loves it! I was interested to hear you pay โฌ4 for a loaf GF as we pay about the same here! Extortion! I donโt have a tortilla maker but I make a GF flat bread (type of thing) to save the bread situation for my coeliac husband! Great video again Jane! Thank you x
I adore pancakes. Your pantry is so organized.
Great video Jane! Some good gluten free ideas! Three of five of us in our house are gluten intolerant and we spend about โฌ16 a week on gf bread here in Ireland. And that's aldi's cheap loaves. You could double that if we were buying the branded ones. Looking forward to more videos like this!
Hi please can we have the tortilla recipe? Thank you
Kudos to you Jane ๐ for making tortillas. I am a Hispanic from Texas and I have never made them. My grown daughter has. I have to say though that it's much easier and cheaper to buy them at the supermarket. ๐๐น
I love your gluten free and cheaper alternatives to bread. I dont know if your American pancakes are similar to what we call piklets. I think I'll make some piklets and freeze for my family. A great way of thinking outside of the box.
Jane I would love to go food shopping with you!โฆ๐๐โฆ.Iโm sure you picked up on a shopping video there..๐คฃโฆ TFS.. and your a real pro at those tortillas ๐
Your pup is so cute.
I will keep saying it. Your meals always look so tasty. Jane you are a very good cook:))
Your beef stew is simple as can be and look delicious! I also make pancakes and freeze them. I'll have one for breakfast with peanut butter and some homemade jam. Yum!
Can you share your gluten free pancake recipe?
Hi Jane, great video! Here is an idea: I would freeze some of this yummy stew liquid in an ice cube container, and use it instead of a beef stock for another meal. That's what I do, I add them when i cook different meals to enrich the taste. Sometimes would add them to the meatless recipes.
I also love your organised pantry. I manage to keep mine in roughly date order, so oldest items to the front, but there can be quite a bit of variety among the tins and jars! I'm also interested to know where you learned to cook, was it growing up? You seem to be able to turn out all kinds of meals and cakes, etc. Apologies if you've mentioned before. I did very basic Home Ec at school and did lots of baking at home, but when I went to university I'd never cooked a proper meal before, alth I could make a Victoria sponge! I watched my Nan a lot growing up, but as a young adult I had to teach myself. I still really enjoy trying new things and cooking foods from different countries, but on my budget these are usually cheap, re-worked versions. I am making sure my son is able to cook and knows how to store and prepare food; he's the pancake-maker in our house!
Great video! I had to chuckle about your dog, because my two guinea pigs squeal every time my fridge opens. They know that's where their favorite treat is (romaine lettuce)๐คฃ
95% of all meals this week were from pantry/frig/freezer. Plan for 100% next week. Today I made a vegetable cheese soup with chicken broth, the stems of broccoli, a few florets, frozen celery and carrots, a small onion, cheese that needed to be used, mashed potatoes to thicken and a small amount of 1/2 & 1/2 (single cream for you I believe?). It's in the crockpot and smells wonderful. It will give us 3-4 meals. Also made up a charcuterie plate using up odds and ends of food gifts from the holidays. I love to see what I can make with what I have. Your stew dinner looks delicious.
Another great video. I am thinking of buying an instant pot I got vouchers for Christmas that will be enough to pay for one. It just feels a bit of a cheat to be buying it in no spend January but as I am intending having a low spend year I suppose it doesnโt matter and once I have it it will be helping me to save a few pennies. Do you find you use yours enough to warrant the cost. I have a slow cooker which I use all the time. My cook is all electric so I am looking at ways to not use my oven and hob.
The stew looks great. I am thinking about buying an instant pot. How many liters volume is the one you use? Nevermind, I spied the scala in the pot, 5liters. ๐คฃ
Your food always looks delicious Jane. I also make tortillas and pancakes, they are great alternatives as a change from bread, and so inexpensive to make. I also like to experiment making all sorts of easy flatbreads including sometimes gluten free.
Thanks for a great video. Iโm interested how the French do their recycling, could you do a video on some information on that some time please. Many thanks x
Everything looks delicious! Wish I had smell a vision. I am enjoying my instant pot also. Great video. Your little sweetheart is adorable. ๐
Hi Jane , I love your Friday cook ups, I just remade a batch of sausage , cheese and bean pasties for the freezer. What flour were you using for the tortillas, I didnโt quite catch it on the video. Thanks ๐
