Close to my version. Pay attention to hi8s words on bread. You can't have a great sandwich without great bread!!! My local chain super market deli bread, NO!

Just made this for my wife of 20 years. Her comment was, "this is the best roast beef sandwich I have ever eaten." Thanks for the easy recipe. I did take all the credit for it, so thanks for that too.

I have already made your other slow-cooker Italian beef recipe and I would like to try this one, too. But, I'm confused: Your other recipe calls for 4-6 Cups of beef broth for a 4 lb. roast, while this recipe calls for 8 cups of beef broth for 2 to 2 1/2 lbs. of deli roast beef–AND the amount of spices is the same for both (Garlic Powder 1 Tsp
, Basil 1/2 Tsp, Oregano 1/2 Tsp, Black Pepper 1/4 Tsp). So, doesn't that mean that the broth will be a lot weaker for the deli roast beef (easy) version on this page?

Lose that pepper mix! All you really need is a handful of great pepperoncinis thrown in the cooker or with the sandwich as a side. Nothing tops Louie's Italian beef seasoning out of Herrin, Illinois where the Italians still rule

This reminds me of “Boston’s” on W Chicago Ave and Grand Ave! This sandwich changed my life! There is nothing in the world like an Italian beef from the Windy City 😭😭😭

Didn't know you could use roast beef. A lot easier than cooking a roast and trying to get a slicer etc.
Grew up in the Chicago suburbs and would love to take a crack at making these. Thanks! Hard to get that bread in CA tho, haha!

About how many sandwiches/people will this serve for 2.5 lbs of roast beef? I have a super loud Chicago family here in Los Angeles and want to surprise them on Super Bowl Sunday. Many thanks for the video!

Best deli roast beef is rare. (Later the beef will cook to well done) Be sure to bring the flavored broth to a very light simmer, not hotter.  You just want to warm the meat slices through with gentle heat and eliminate the pink color. Chewy Italian bread can withstand the dip without disintegrating into mush, and you will need the juice for moisture—the beef is very lean and the bread a bit dry—otherwise the sammy is a choking hazard. No joke!
