Finally! I’ve been trying to get this video done for the last couple of months — it’s all about how I make my cold start Instant Pot Yogurt. Like I said in the video, I’m …
Dude, this was amazing!
Aaron I've made this twice, love love love it Thank you Karen
WOW! I just made yogurt with the Fairlife and itโs AMAZING!! Just a note, since the IP doesnโt need to come to pressure, I removed the sealing ring so my yogurt doesnโt have any lingering flavor. I will try a different milk for my next batch! Thank you for a great video!
I have a question. I never did ask you actually refrigerate the yogurt while you're straining it?
So dumb question. Can I double this batch?
I think you accounted for too much Fage yogurt in your calculation. Did you include all of the nutrition instead of only 2 tbsp?
I've been wanting to do this! Thanks for breaking it down!
Love watching all you videos, even this one for yogurt, a food I find revolting.
Has anyone on here experimented with adding probiotics to the yogurt when making?
That milk is lactose free, therefore the only food food for the bacteria is the small amount of lactose with the yogurt…
So I ended up making this yogurt yesterday. And got a bag of frozen blueberries and pureed them and mixed it together in the yougurt. Plus put some vanilla and swarve in it as well. It came out so flipping amazing. Thank you for sharing. It helped a lot.
Aaron, since you love coffee so much: I add decaf instant coffee crystals to my yogurt and a little stevia. It is awesome !!!!!
I know this may be a boring request, but I'd love to see the different ways you eat eggs. Any spices added? Sauces? Plain hard boiled eggs? Etc…
AWESOME VIDEO!!!!
I am a keto gal and I have been wanting to make some sort of low carb yogurt! I have owned my Instant Pot for years and have made yogurt before going keto. I am psyched to make yougurt that I can eat again!!! Its so thick..wow! Thanks for the awesome video. Great humor too! You have a new subscriber!!! ๐น
Teddy gives no f*cks just like my cats ๐คฃ
I'm new to all of this so my question would be…. why can't you use heavy cream? Just wondering ๐
Looks good, and a lot of info. I made hard boiled eggs in my instant pot a few weeks ago, and unfortunately there was cross contamination flavors from previous meals. (Lower carb chili) what is an easy way to prevent this?
A little tip for using your instant pot for hard boiled eggs. Tap them lightly on the counter until you see a tiny crack appear in the shell. After you take them out of their ice bath the shell will just slide off. It really helps with farm fresh eggs.
Here's a use for the leftover whey that is probably useful to exactly no one: Feed whey to your pigs! Happy pigs turn into bacon, the ultimate keto food. Chickens also like whey. My pigs and chickens eat all my leftover kitchen scraps.
No whey! I make milk kefir daily and love the health benefits.
You are so smart.
This episode was very Alton Brown-y. Loved your food science and math!! ๐ฅโ ๐บ
This looks so good! My Instant Pot doesnโt have the yogurt setting, so do you know what I would set it to? Thank you!!
That is not called yogurt. It is called โLebniโ. You can find it in any Middle eastern market. And yes, you can make it yourself.
Add some olive oil and dry mint and spread it on pita bread or Keto bread with slices of cucumber. Makes a great wrap.
When our new instant pot comes in Iโm going to try with organic valley grass milk. Lil higher carb but what hubby uses
Looks good Aaron! I dont have an instant pot and dont eat much yogurt but that video was entertaining af ๐๐คช hi Sara!

I make IP Greek yogurt too and use two cartons of milk at a time. amazon has a stringer that can fit a gallon and it works very good!!! Fabulous! Basement Food Science
You don't have to use ultra pasteurized milk, i've only ever used regular pasteurized whole milk and it's fine 100% of the time. I used to make yogurt and cheese from my own raw goats milk and that's been fine as well as long as you have clean milking habits. For anyone in Canada the Liberte plain greek yogurt has been the best store bought starter i've found. You can also order just yogurt culture from Caprine Supply, keep it in the freezer but it makes a very good yogurt!! Thanks for the nutrition break down Aaron, very informative!
Stepping up your game. This video looks amazing. Great edits. Oh and good content too.
Strain a-whey! Love your colander! I think I might drag my instant pot out and make this soon. You made it look easy!
I've been making my own keto yogurt with Krogers Carbmaster milk. The carbs and calories are half of Fairlife. I am not sure the final product macros because I dont think the whey is the same as traditional milk (a lot of my numbers came out as negatives ๐ ). But it works and is tasty enough.
Did you refrigerate during the straining process??
Thank you Aaron I've been wanting to finally use that yogurt function. You make it easy to understand. I prefer that cream cheese thickness as well. Can't wait to see the results. Keep em coming.๐ Hi Sarah๐ค
Google "GAP yogurt". If you ferment it in the Instant Pot for 24 hours you increase the beneficial bacteria by a factor of 10 and decrease any remaining lactose/galactose. I use Organic Valley Grass Milk with cream on top that is only pasteurized not homogenized but I boil it first in the Instant Pot using the yogurt function setting for that and then cool to 110 F in a water bath and then add the Fage Total 5% and then ferment for 24 hours. I don't strain it.
Instapot yogurt is the best!!
I have used alot of different milks the one I like the best i got from Whole Food and it had the cream still in it. OMG I can't remember the name of it. I also make it with regular milk for my dog's and chickens they love it.
Soooo….as someone else has said, whey is a great starter for more yogurt. You can ferment veggies with whey(if you eat them). It works well as a meat tenderizing marinade.
Those little hard-working bacteria can do wonders for your plumbing, toilet or septic system. I know many organic gardeners who use it to water and foliar feed plants. Houseplants benefit, too. If you make sprouts, add it to rinse water.
Your pets gut health will benefit, just ease them into it, or you will risk little gushy presents all over the place…cuz even though cats are a higher life form, they are a little sketchy on how toilets work….๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ
No, you can't convert it to gasoline or bring about whirled peas, but it is pretty useful stuff…๐
I've been making this yogurt for a long time, mostly for my dogs. But because it is SO low carb I do eat it sometimes.
It doesn't eat ALL of the lactose but I count mine as 3g net carb per cup of yogurt. I also don't strain mine, I like it a little thinner. I have gotten the best results with Nancy's whole milk cream top yogurt as a starter.
So did I read it correctly, that the Fairlife one is 2ish grams of carbs and Horizon one is 11 grams of carbs, for a 7 ounce serving? If so, that is a tremendously huge difference in carbs! Or is it a mistake?
Gotta get on the air fryer train so you aren't bareft of hard boiled eggs while making yogurt (and don't have to resort to caveman ways). ๐
Great video, man!
A little bit higher carb, from my math it's four times the carbs. Also how are you doing your hard boiled eggs in the instapot?
When you strain the yogurt do you leave it on out or put it in the fridge during the 24 hrs?
Hmmm. I think I'll stick with two good yogurt
Been dying for this video! Thank you for the idea and recipe โ glad to see the carb breakdown. This will be part of my routine weekend meal prep going forward. Itโs so good! I love being able to flavor each serving if I want.
You can use leftover whey as a starter for your next batch of yogurt! Just freeze it until you need it. I donโt do cold start though, so you may have to try it and see if it works.
