Welcome to Win or Fail Friday! This week I tried a recipe I found on Pinterest- 15 Minute Instant Pot Orange Chicken. I chose it because it only had 5 ingredients …
I make something kinda similar but we use Honey bbq sauce, garlic, and honey! Its delicious!
Trader Joe's Orange chicken from the freezer is delicious!
I haven't used an Instant Pot, but we do make a lot of rice in our rice cooker. I'm also not a huge orange chicken fan.
My daughter just got an instapot and she has been having a lot of fun with it.
I love your win or fail videos!👍🏼❤️
I tried a similar recipe in my instant pot and didnt like it either….love the video!
Found this have not tried: ingredients
3-4 Boneless skinless chicken breasts cubed
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
2 cloves garlic minced
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
To thicken
2 Tablespoons cornstarch
3-4 tablespoons water
Green onions
Instructions
In a bowl, mix the water, orange juice, soy sauce, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger together
Place chicken in the instant pot. Add sauce and mix together with a spoon
Close the lid and pressure cook for 5 minutes
Release the pressure and press the saute button
To thicken sauce
In a small bowl mix water and cornstarch together
Add to the chicken
Cook for 1-2 minutes or until sauce thickens
Remove from pot and serve
OPTIONAL: Garnish with green onions
I added 2 tablespoons of orange marmalade
I figured the chicken would be dry as I have learned any meat in the ip you must npr for at least 10 min then qr. I have seen another orange chicken one will have to refined and try then let ya know
You’re new glasses look great!
Love the idea of orange chicken…but I’m so picky too so it might not be a win 😓
I do have a recipe where you mix apricot preserves with a bottle of Catalina dressing and a pack of Lipton onion soup mix pour over diced chicken cook in crockpot and serve over rice
I have heard quick release meat will dry it out.
I love the win or fail videos because I am always wondering about if something is good or not. I love to find a good new recipe. Thanks for sharing
You can also remove the cooked chicken and just simmer the sauce to thicken. That would lesson the likelihood of dry chicken. I also use chicken thighs and find this less dry.
Ive done it before, and didn’t like it. The orange flavor is just odd..
Loved that you used Smuckers orange marmalade, such fond memories of my grandmother and I always having this with our toast!❤👵❤
I’ve done a orange chicken recipe in the crockpot before and I’m with you… I did not like the orange flavor. No one in my family liked it lol.
