Hi, love watching you guys cook (Molly's Caesar Salad is now a firm favourite 🙂 & so when I bought an Instant Pot, I thought, "These guys have their feet pretty firmly planted on the ground and won't get caught up in all the hype…". But Carla – I do think you're wrong when you say the heater's in the middle (2:55). The little round thimble's just the temp. sensor – the heater is the larger plate around it. I get a nice even heat right across the bottom of the pot on my IP. 🙂
No terrible reviews left, tho'! 🙂

The heating element is not the button in the middle. The heating element is the blackish metal plate around the button. The button is a sensor pad to help with determining if the inner pot is installed and won't allow cooking to commence if it is not there.

I have an instant pot and have never used it. I'm terrified of the pressure cooker function and then find all the other functions to be overwhelming plus I just really really really love my Crockpot (yes the specific slow cooler brand) and the thought of trying to figure out how to convert them over to the pressure cooker cooking times makes me frustrated because I'm dyslexic and terrible at math so I get all confused. I do like the idea of sauteing in the instant pot (for example searing beef before adding in other ingredients to make pot roast) so then I don't dirty a bunch of dishes and have to deal with moving stuff around. But seriously, all the gadgets and gizmos sold to go along with the instant pot us so overwhelming (egg holder, stilted racks, silicone trays, etc).
