The dairy-free was probably the problem. My adult daughter is seriously lactose intolerant; she has told me that every dairy-free cheese she has tried has been awful. The ones with real cheese have got to be much better.

You literally screwed it up cup mac n cheese… I didn't think that was possible for anyone to do. You added boiling water which you're not supposed to do. Then you proceeded to microwave it, which evaporated all the water. So, clearly, there wasn't enough water to mix around the sauce and make it creamy. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Get a box of chick pea macaroni. Boil on the stove. Reserve the drained water. Put oil in a heated frying pan/wok. Add butter and garlic and pepper. When the butter is melted, add the drained pasta to the pan. Sprinkle on some grated cheese or cheese powder of your choice. Stir constantly while slowly pouring in the reserved pasta water until sauce is creamy. Season to taste. The dish will taste like chick peas, so expect that flavor instead of the wheat flavor. It should be creamy and delicious. Try it a few times until you are used to the flavor of the chick peas. You can add meat /fish/ or veggies to the dish to make it a full meal.
PS. You can substitute margarine or plant butter for the butter, and I have seen vegan cheese in the dairy section at Wal-Mart. Have fun.

I'm sure dairy free Mac n cheese won't be good anyway you do it but you don't use boiling waiter and add ti the microwave. You could of just used the boiling water and let it cook on its on own or cold water in the microwave. Interesting fact, the dollar general brand tomato soup is kosher. It doesn't state it on the can but it does on the manufacturer paperwork.
