That Italian passage was simply an introduction to a passage about the effects of ice cream on the human body and physiology. Pretty much he's saying that not much is known and so the following will include some of the latest science and first hand observations, and therefore don't be upset that it's not comprehensive

St. Petersburg! That's a Russian icecream seller! That's my treasured heritage! How cool!

Yes, beards are very important in Russian culture at the time. Russian orthodox men typically kept beards. Peter the Great, who tried to "modernize" Russia, tried to tax beards to attack the orthodox church and its influence. That was the 17th century. In the 18th century, we have Catherine the Great, who tried to take on the power of the orthodox church by coopting it and embracing a sense of "Russian" national identity. Thus, it would make sense that men kept their beards again in that time.

This is definitely reminding me of my Great Grandfather. He would always make vanilla bean at Birthday parties. He would get all the kids to take turns cranking it. I think I will order a crank unit.

I think it would be great if you guys could do a hybrid. Meaning play some cooking videos and content videos, and then come in with a live segment for an hour or so, and finish it off with some other videos. So that way it doesn't take up too much of your time.
