Have been working with Alysha. Things are slowly improving but I am still not there yet.She recommended a good probiotic Seed and it is helping.Thank you! FODMAPS are so hard.
Been curling into a ball every night with stabbing pains in my gut, and extreme bathroom habits… So I’m trying this, on day 2 and feeling better already. I do miss the wheat and onion and garlic though 🙁
I started to use fennel seeds supplement, and it is working good for me 🙂
I got so excited about Fody when you mentioned their service, filled an online cart, and then saw that they don't ship to the EU😭 Your video is great though!😊
There’s also a psychological side of IBS. I recommend hypnotherapy, I have a history of anxiety and that was one of my triggers of it.
That intro😅😂
Ugh. So much. So overwhelming. I suppose I’ll always suffer 🥴🥴
I got diagnoses with ibs this week, have to start this diet. Thanks for the video!
painfully long-winded woman
Thank you for being realistic and discussing how tough it was! Your recognition that an altered version of the "Rules" would be the best and most realistic choice for you was so encouraging. I so appreciate when people discuss how difficult good health and physical comfort can be even when you have a graduate education, and a genuine interest in the "work." My mind is blown by how hard a semi-healthy low FODMAP diet would be on a budget. Frozen broccoli/cauliflower/Brussels sprouts, canned beans, shelf stable fresh veg like cabbage are budget stables that help get veggies in without spending tons of money or worrying about wasting money on produce that will go bad. And relying on animal products for protein really adds up. That's not even considering budgeting time / the time poverty that working people face.
I find it ironic how most of these "Low Fodmap" foods are pretty high in tomato paste, and those with GERD/Acid Reflux know that tomato is one of the biggest culprits for acid production, so it's definitely not gut friendly Lol
Might be colon friendly, but not gut friendly
I just resubscribed because of this video. I tried the low roadmap diet a year ago and failed due to some dental issues that made chewing veggies impossible. I plan to try this again. SIBO diagnosis here too
I was just diagnosed with a redundant colon and have to follow this diet now. It is SO FREAKING DIFFICULT
I contacted Alysha because with low weight I am suffering with high FODMAP foods and it is limiting so I need help just like you did.
I went on an emotional roller coaster when my doctor directed me to go low fodmap at 17 years old with only a paper of ingredients I could and could not eat. It triggered unhealthy food thoughts and habits and I had a hard time transitioning as there was no transition period for me. 4 years later and I’m finally gaining a healthy relationship with food and have learned to embrace my IBS and enjoy the foods I can. Thank you for sharing this Abbey 😊
I did the fodmap diet with the help of a dietitian. Turned out that i'm sensitive to garlic, wheat and honey. I've replaced those with things like spealt bread, corn pasta and garlic oil. It's harder, and more expensive, but you get used to it eventually. Eating out however…. is almost impossible. By taking enzyme pills I can handle those situations. Now if only insurrance would start covering those. All in all, difficult but doable and worth being able tot wear my normal pants again and being comfortable because you can trust how you're body will react to the foods you eat!
Starts at 4:30
I have IBS and am very underweight so I have FODMAP intolerance.I find only tolerate proteins and animal fats best and any sweet fruits are off the table and only green beans and eggplant and peppers.
Thank you for your empathy on how hard this can be. I’ve been so scared to try because it’s so overwhelming.
What's with the drama? Learn how to cook proper FODMAP meals and turn the journey into something positive instead of focusing on what's 'missing'. If you need a change, you've gotta change. A lot of us did.
beans are not fruit and the poem goes beans beans theyre good for the heart, need I say more?
So According to this video, apples bananas cheese are my culprits. However I thought it would have been coffee and all the seafood I have for iodine.
This was so nice of you to upload you didn’t have to do this we appreciate you 🥺
I know that beans are so bad on gas for me…. but i dont eat them much and i love them so much with mexican food!
Man. I had to go through this repeatedly with low fodmap and low acidity diets and your honesty at 14:30 was so helpful for me. I also felt awful and alone. I even broke down crying in a grocery store twice.
I didn't get total symptom relief either and my bloating can be sooooo uncomfortable. I have to try the food journaling and elimination again and I've been scared. I'll use this to help me.
I was on a strict low fodmap diet for two years. Being on such a restrictive diet — especially when I really don't eat meat — wasn't fun. But, it helped decrease much of my painful bloating. I'm off the diet now, but I still try to avoid eating too much garlic, onions, and apples (although I love them!). I wish there was a better fix for SIBO!
Thank you, very good video, I can totally relate! This video is nice since I've never seen someone besides me talk about this subject. I do agree on the "stacking" concept it gives me a lot of trouble. I've been tracking my food and beverage triggers for years which are mostly the same as yours. Anything sugarless I do not do ever.
First thing that came to mind with the "bean" song
"Greens, greens, nothing but greens
Parsley, peppers, cabbages and celery
Asparagus, and watercress, and fiddleferns, and lettuce
He said, "All right", but it wasn't, quite
'Cause I caught him in the autumn in my garden one night. . ."
Coffee routine video when?
Try low fodmap and low oxalate. 😔
I used to load up on cantaloupes whenever I got sick in my younger years lol idk why – that would always be the first thing I would ask my parents for
My doc had suggested the low fodmap diet for controlling SIBO. But I didn't really do it. The SIBO has returned and I'm miserable. Hoping this will help get it under control. Happy to learn about Fody Foods; I'm disabled and food prep is often difficult.
FODMAP changed my life. I can't sing its praise enough. I have a dietician and a doctor invloved. But for the first time in my life, food wasn't making me sick. My mental health as well as the physical has improved drastically.
Fody was the worst tasting pasta sauce I'd ever had. Making a low Fodmap sauce is much tastier or even Raos has one that's low Fodmap too.
You talking about your empathy means a lot to me – I was just diagnosed with Celiac Disease and it is such a hard adjustment! Everything I loved to eat/my family eats (I live at home) has gluten in it. On top of that, I have IBS and have had my gallbladder removed so I have to be cautious with food and drinks that can also affect those😭
