Hi Dennis, I make this often during the winter and fall months, but in a Dutch oven. Thanks for the tip about the salt. I heard that before but forgot it. I appreciate this divine soup. Kids make ham, then they bring the bone and leftover ham pieces and I make this. Yours is looking very good. Now cool weather, it’s more tastier. Take care.👍👍👍😀

had 2 questions. first, did you end up having to buy a new car battery or did the charger work? my other question which applies to this wonderful recipe. it's a 2 parter.. what type of parsley do you like using? can you show off your potted garden, would love to learn how to garden in pots

Another winner. I look forward to trying this soon. It's down to 45F today and I'm beginning to crave slow cooker meals. I used to own 2 of them and a couple of other "multi-pot" type appliances which all went to Goodwill after I got my IP. It never leaves the countertop since I use it for just about everything. Thanks Dennis.

I think it depends upon the type of bean, but I’ve read that some kinds (red kidney for instance) require some amount of boiling to burn away some impurities/toxins. I’m not taking about having an upset stomach but getting legitimately (perhaps not life threatening) ill. There is no question that soaking isn’t required for depending on the cooking method (you can boil for a couple minutes then kill the heat and let them sit in the hot water for an hour or two). I still do it anyway even with my instant pot because I’ve had them require a (shorter) second pressure cook to reach optimal done-ness. I agree NEVER salt your beans while cooking. I even avoid adding ingredients containing salt until I know they are already done (learned that from Fergus Henderson). Slow cookers scare me, keeping food in the danger zone for too long. That being said I’d eat a bucket of that soup! Great video (sorry for the long comment)! Only 9.5 lbs to go!

I'm getting several comments with links to adult content. You should know ALL my videos are set to "Hold all comments for review." No one sees them until I approve them. If I dislike a comment I "hide" the person from my channel. No one, including me, will ever see that person's comment. So don't waste your time spamming my channel. It accomplishes nothing. —Dennis
