Do you put the top back on the instant pot while you're first heating up the beans? I just got my instant pot yesterday, so I feel blessed to have found you and your recipes, here on youtube and now also your book on amazon… will be buying that today. šŸ™‚ Thanks for sharing so much info about the instant pot.

I love your recipes that I decided to buy your book. I've purchased the kindle version cause I can just do the recipe without touching the physical book. At least now I know how to soak beans in the IP before cooking them.

Hi Jill – Thanks for this. I was just wondering why you soak the beans first. I have found I can pressure cook beans in my ipot with no pre-soaking. But maybe you know something I don't!

Lol. Youā€™re adorable. Got the Instant Pot for Christmas and never got it out of the box…until last night. Saw a chili recipe in the book that came with the thing & realized I had the ingredients (mine are red chili beans) so Iā€™m going for it. No, I havenā€™t read any instructions but you seem so clear Iā€™m going to just go with you now. My beans are in a bag, not cooked, so first things first.
What an uplifting cheerful and humorous persona you have! First YouTube video and itā€™s like I won the lottery this morn. That said, Iā€™m trying to be vegan so not sure about all the substitutes yet (itā€™s a cancer thang). This video is good because:
    1. The lighting is really good for me! I can SEE you (and your smile)
    2. Itā€™s well thought out. I tend to ā€œdriftā€ when thereā€™s too much to think about. You broke it down for me nicely .
    3. Like your wall in the background. I had to give a thumbs up for that before I even saw the entire video.
    Thank you.

We just got our pot and searched recipes and found yours, we made these tonight and it worked! Why am I surprised? Iā€™m 52 years old and was always intimidated by those flimsy bags of beans in the store, lol…no more! They turned out wonderfully, thank you!

So what makes this better than just putting it on the stove? If you're home, you can just let the beans simmer on the stove and go do stuff. Why should I buy this. It seems to cook the beans after 30 to 45 mins which is pretty much the same time on the stove.

Jill….cool and informative video. I love to cook and this week, I will be purchasing my first pressure cooker. And after careful consideration; I will be purchasing the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker. And I love making black bean vegan burgers and your video was very helpful. And lastly, how long can the beans stay frozen and how long can I keep them in the fridge. Um, keep up the great work showing us your knowledge and I just subscribed to your site…….Thanks again Jill and keep up the great work!

Hi Jill…Can I cook these black beans the same way you cooked the pinto beans, dry and for 30 min? Will it come out cooked? Or do I have to soak it first before cooking it?

Question: How do you store your leftover beans? Do you just freeze them or is there a special method?
I'm watching and saving all of your instant pot videos for cooking in my dorm room! šŸ˜‚
We're only allowed either an instant pot or a rice cooker, and/or perhaps a blender. Plus we can rent a mini fridge, but that's it. šŸ˜©
