About 20 years ago a Mexican-American coworker shared her tortilla recipe with me, basically shouted across the aisle while we were both cashiers. I repeated it to myself until I memorized it and it's my go-to ever since. The only real difference from this one is of course lard and also a pinch of cream of tartar. I don't know what it does but she was adamant! I lived by a deli back then and they sold schmaltz so I used that in place of lard. To this day I prefer the schmaltz if I can get it.

I'm participating in veganuary and have been craving homemade tortillas, so this comes at a perfect time. Love the original version and don't doubt these will be just as good

@viewsontheroad I know you tell us to ask for recipes, I’d really be interested in your version of a guacamaya salsa recipe. It’s hard to find, and has a good sweetness to it.

2 cups all purpose flour, 3.5 Tblsp of olive oil, slightly less than a cup of hot water, salt to taste. Mix until elastic. Cut off pieces, roll out and throw on hot skillet. GTG.

Tortillas are so tasty and versatile. I just love how we can enjoy each others’ cultures and appreciate our differences. They are what makes this life much more rich and interesting😊

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
    ‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Jesus loves you and wants to begin a relationship with you regardless of your past. Don’t wait until it is too late. You only have a chance for salvation while you live. Tomorrow is not promised. Today is the day of salvation! Accept Jesus into your heart today, and be saved.

Hi Stephanie and Cloud, I need some advice. Where can I go shopping for Mexican products in Nevada. I recently moved from NYC and I can’t find a good hispanic food shopping store or market. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Could you work with Gluten Free flours? Some are just aweful for anything. Unediable! I saw on you tube a recipe with 1 large can of carnation milk and self rising flour. But I have thrown several things out! Help me please! My future daughter in law loves flour over corn and misses then going on 2 1/2 yrs.

Thank you for vegan recipe. I live in Wisconsin so using the butter will it spread more? If I use the shortening during winter months and "help" it as you did will I still encounter a issue?
