finally a good in depth steam tek video, in comparison with the insta. all in one place. I like seeing non lab conditions. been researching a while now. my first ordered syringes came in the mail yesterday. want to grow the mycelium out and select using Agar, rather than inoculateing grain jars. have lots of ketchup cups and am ready to go. thx for the great vid.
So, why not just leave the melted lids on, count your blessings that they are on tight, and inject through the hole, then cover with another piece of micropore tape?
If you plan on changing the lid anyway, why sacrifice the plastic lid when you could just use foil during the PC process?
Hello are you busy I have been following you for awhile I learned a lot from you and I need some advice. If you have a few minutes
Sorry if you answered this question in the video but could you leave the lid off of them and use the foil to just cover the top and help keep the shape of the cup while steaming?
I've been seeing some good stuff about activated coconut charcoal added to agar to make it even better at growing. I'd love to see that tested more.

3-2-1 agar PhillyGoldenTeacher. That is the original source as far as I could find.
I think I'm gonna try this all tomorrow night but I think I'm gonna leave those melted lids on the cups…unless I see an obvious edge leak. If I wait a week, and none of them are contaminated, I assume the are likely usable…yes? I think it would be pretty cool to just squirt LC through the lid and not have to take the lid off at all and then seal the needle hole with tape. What do you think?
Can you cover the hole with sturdier tape once it cools?
WOW that melting lid is kinda…cool! LOL. Hey, the instant pot has a "steam" function. I've never used it but I wonder….? I don't have a stove or an oven so I'm trying to do most EVERYthing with an instant pot and microwave.
