This is my second time using this. Thanks man
I was raised on Lima beans ham hocks, love all varieties of this dish, pintos, limas, nothern white beans, you name it.
You know my man can cook when you see the cast iron on the stove
Pinto beans and ham freezes well too.

If you like pinto beans try Peruvian beans they are essentially a white pinto bean – a bit more smoother then a pinto and does well with ham
My friend, when u was growing up, family of 9, my mama had to stretch the dollar every day. She knew how to cook beans Iโll bet 100 ways. But also, ham hocks were free for the asking. Just like some cuts of beef once considered less desirable and now those same cuts are up there with filet mignon. Iโm making white beans and ham hocks this evening but I have a lot of Thanksgiving ham in freezer too so canโt wait to make your recipe. Thank for sharing.
Are the beans precooked beans or dry/raw beans? I assume, raw.
Maaaaaan, this looks just like my mom's ham and bean soup. There's nothing better. I'm going to give this a shot.
I LOVE pinto beans and ham! Never tried paprika or cumin in mine so going to try it!
A pot of beans, a pan of corn bread, and a tall glass of milk is home.

Looks delicious Iโll be trying this ๐
It turned out great I added a can of ro'tel diced tomatoes with lime juice and cilantro.
Man…I know this is couple of years old but I just came here from a ham and bean soup by Paula Dean's . She made a soup with some ham cubes, couple of cups of chicken stock made out of chicken base, a bunch of collard greens, a bunch of thyme and the beans, nothing else. No onion, peppers, carrots,or any type of tomato base or paprika. This is so much better.
Can I use lentils with this?
Looooove it! Thx for sharing!
Where is the video for the cakes?
That looks awesome! I laughed because I also hated beans as a young boy but now they're one of my favorites! I'm curious why you remove the bone from your soup? I leave that bone in until it's completely done and the meat is falling off the bones and every ounce of flavor is out of the bones.
Took that to next level nice job
Looks good T but no measurements?Spices?but especially how much beans?A bag,or what. Checked Below but didn't see anything ?
Great stuff… don't forget the cornbread.
You got balls to post a ham and beans recipe.
Was a regular when we grew up.
Gotta have the bones.
This looks awesome! Thank you for sharing it!
This is the best recipe !
Oh wow, I'm cooking pinto beans for Sunday. You got my mouth watering ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ
I'm really glad I came across this video. It's a different approach but a real good one. Thanks for posting.
Grew up calling this dish beans and cornbread
I grew up with my dad making this and he also used pinto beans ๐ซ๐โค๏ธ
My grandma adds ketchup and sugar to her personal serving of of bean soup and I tried it last weekend and itโs awesome lol it makes it like a mix between ham and bean soup and tomato bisque and itโs really good
I take carrots and roast them and about 2/3 of the way thru the cool time I add the roasted carrots and it adds a layer of sweetness to cut the salty natural of this soup. It really adds another layer of flavor to the broth of the soup.
Yum! Now that groceries are so expensive, I think we're all going back to these oldskool tried & true recipes. Really not a concession since they're delicious both taste wise AND nostalgia wise….which brings the comfort. Thank you! Great channel!
