Are you supposed to remove the steam release handle and float valve before washing the lid in the dishwasher? I just started using my IP today and noticed in the Care & Cleaning instructions “ remove all parts from lid before dishwashing” Also are you supposed to wash the steam release handle and float valve after each use?
I have watched dozens and dozens of videos since I was gifted a brand new instantpot for Christmas. When I performed the initial water test, after cleaning and drying the pot and lid, the water didn't appear clean afterwards. There was a white residue left behind. I used filtered water for test. I repeated the cleaning steps 7 additional times using baking soda, vinnegar, lemons and every time there was still a bit of residue in the water after performing the water test. Has anyone had this same issue? Also, every time I've cleaned under the rim of the inner pot itself there is a black residue left behind on papertowel when drying it. I must've washed this thing a dozen times by now and I'm afraid of using it. Should I call the company or does anyone know any tricks to these two problems? Thanks in advance!
Do I have to clean the ring and valve every day after cooking or only once in a while?
When my stainless steel pot used in the Novo 6 qt. gets stained, I use Barkeepers Friend. It does not scratch and it makes it shine better than new. I am not choosy about the cloth.
Does it matter what way you put your sealing ring back on
I have a Duo Evo and I can't remove the metal basket under the lid and I was uncertain if that model will allow me to remove it.
What about cleaning the condensation cup?
That was wonderful.
Cleaning our new one after first use. She's out shopping and will see your vid tonight.
Love the little helper!
I clean my stainless steel pot with Barkeepers friend. It makes the pot super shiny and clean

Hi dear I’ve got my ipot duo sv and I made chicken in it and let it naturally venting but the float valve didn’t go down so I had to put it down manually
Just wondering is it normal or mine is defected?
Thanks
Is it safe to immerse the lid in soapy water and wash by hand?
Magic eraser works the best for me and so easy.
You only use water
Highly useful video.
I always take my sealing ring out and store it and I immerse my lid in hot soapy water. Is that wrong? anyway, I only have one sealing ring and I like to keep it clean.
I have a question why you don’t wash it with water and soap the lid I did rice pudding and I made a mess it was my first time using it so I had to take everything apart your video help me a lot but I water the whole lid I don’t know if I did wrong
I like your channel , i have a channel subscribe plase thanks by
Re: Dishwasher use w/Instant Pot – see the summary at the bottom of the page. https://instantpot.com/care-cleaning-pressure-multicooker/
The only part that can't be cleaned in the dishwasher, is the base.
Personally, I steam clean my pot after every use with baking soda, vinegar, &water. I hand wash 1st, but don't worry about how clean it is since I'll be steaming it after.. Then a final wash. I use it daily & only have the one ring for now.
THANKS for the info! I learned a few things 😁
Thank you! 😃❤️
Barkeepers is great for the outside of pans, but a product called Astonish️ Oven & Cookware Cleaner is way better to clean the outside. Buy the version that comes in a tub. Has saved me countless times.
Great videos.
Everything is clear and well done but would you kindly make the videos more concise? I find that there is too much less important detail here and elsewhere. Thank you.
Do we wash the lid ?
Very helpful, thanks! I followed right along with you and cleaned my pot perfectly! And yes, I do have e-cloths already, I love them. And will be using them for my Instant Pot.
The inner metal pot, after cooking with it, do you hand wash it or do you put it in the dishwasher?
It’s hard to tell on this video:
Which steps 🤔💭 🤨 have moist/ wet cloths and which ones are dry cloths? 😧??
Thank you so much this was a detail way of cleaning the bottom of the lid I haven't use my instant pot yet, I have the new 9 in one and it's been in the box for about a week I am trying to get the nerve to use it.
I clean mine with my Norwex Enviro cloth. It disinfects and leaves my instant pot nice and shiny 😊
The lid is top rack dishwasher safe.
I use barkeepers friend, I always clean the bottom of the pot also, I'm sure you do too but it's not shown here
Omg, your hands look old.
Thanks for the tips. I do take off the ring and clean it but was not sure of the little valve, now I know. Thanks 😃
Stinks……..like cooked food that stinks…? Are you making turd casserole …why would it….STINK. …
I ordered the E-cloths after watching this video and then used the video and deep cleaned my instant Pot today!! I love who clean and sparkly it is!!! Thank you!!
Wow. This was good. I purchased an Instant Pot last year and today, July 4th, is the very first time I've used it. It's a 3qt Mini-Duo. And no, the fact that's it's July 4th has nothing to do with it. 🙂
I thought my first use would be something like boiled eggs, but I actually made jambalaya. I'm just as surprised as you …ummm …assuming anyone is the least bit surprised. 🙂
I saw this jambalaya kit at a local grocery store and that everything in the big box. The instructions seemed a bit long winded and it came to me – why not try it in my Instant Pot! I'll just slice and dice the veggies that came in the box and pour in the supplied rice and liquid broth and add a cup of water and the other stuff and set it to stew, which cooks for 35 minutes and wow. It came out very good if I must say so myself. And I do. 🙂
I'm not sure if I've ever had jambalaya let alone made it before. Granted since this is my first time using it there is not a whole lot of mess to clean up, but I thought I should learn what is the best approach and you certainly supplied that for me so thank you, thank you! 🙂 I've watch some of your other videos on Instant Pot and all have been informative and reliable. Cheers! 🙂
nice instructive video, in Europe, the main problem is the rubber gasket….$20 dollars (!). One can clearly see that part is worth maybe 2 dollars but they do it because you have no other choice.
Personally I remove the ring the cap from the valve then I wash it all in my soapy water and I put the lid directly in the water to clean it well then I wipe all my pieces and I let it dry in the air.
I've been cooking with it for a year and a half and I haven't changed the ring. The trick is to wipe it off but not stretch the ring worthwhile better let it air dry on a towel and other accessories.
Thanks for your recipes, they're great. 😉
Is this Pot an 8 quart? I just bought a 6 wt Ultra. It seems tiny to me!
You should try Norwex cloths, they are amazing!
Love your videos 🤗
I keep a toothbrush n my dish kit, helps scrub all the small crevasses in the Instant pot. Thanks for this video
Loved this! Hope you're having a good week. :o)
Thank you for this video, I don’t have an instant pot, I have the Ninja Foodi, I was really excited to get it, and I do love it, but I’m not too happy with Ninja!! I think that, as far as the Foodi goes, Ninja customer care is not very caring! They don’t have accessories for it and, more importantly, a spare seal, so I researched ways to clean it. The best way I’ve found is to put two cups of white vinegar plus some lemon rind, into the pot, set the pot to steam, and steam for two minutes. I haven’t tried it yet, but normal cleaning won’t get rid of the smell, hopefully this will. 🤞
Thank you !
i do take qtip around the edges to get the food out where u put the lids on. i did not do this one time and i saw yuck
