Paula I put my green beans with the sautéed onions and mushrooms on the back of the stove and forget them! Thats the way I get that "can" flavor off my green beans! I top mine with crushed chips. NO CHEESE!!

I love you Paula Dean and very one of your recipes that I have tried. One year, after making this for my husband, he volunteered me to make this recipe for his grandmother's thanksgiving lunch, now she tells me very year (over 13+ years) to bring this recipe. For Thanksgiving, I do use fresh green beans cooked in chicken stock but any other time it's canned. I also put just a little fried onions and cheddar cheese INTO the casserole and the rest on top.

Anytime I get onion strings / rings at my favorite restaurants, I usually save some off to the side. I keep them in Ziplocs in the freezer so that I can put them on top of casseroles like this one. They can also be reheated as a topping on hamburgers, or mixed into your favorite meatloaf recipe. It has a little flour and flavor.

I tried your way for the green bean casserole I really love it. You get the onion and it makes it better. I didn’t sauté them in butter though. Just some EVOO spray.

I understand that chefs love to cook with gas, because there is more control, but I've had gas stoves explode in my face two times! Both times, the pilot light had gone out in the oven, and I had dishes cooking on the stove top, so when I opened the oven door–boom! I was lucky both times. The worst that happened was that I looked like I had a sunburn and had about half of my long hair and eyebrows and eyelashes burned off. I won't use gas because of it.

Paula, one of my favorite things about the holidays was watching you on Food Network and watching all of the holiday cooking just made the season for me. I lost both of my parents recently and it’s been a tough year without seeing the rest of my family since last Christmas, and I just want to thank you for continuing the holiday cooking shows. I put your cooking videos on and it just feels like the holidays again, even during these tough times. Thank you for taking the time to do this for us. We love you, and happy holidays!

My family loved watching you on the food network channel. We watched you so much that when my son was 7, the church asked him to do a Thanksgiving scrapbook theme on what he was thankful for, and he said he was thankful for you, and glued your picture on there. It was so cute, everyone talked about it
