We have that recipe, but we call it Pistachio Dessert. It has the same ingredients and instructions. We consider it a summertime dessert because it's eaten chilled/cold. We like the Pistachio flavor pudding the best. Everyone who eats it, loves it! I do have one tip for you gals. Get yourself a SPATULA to scrape that mixing bowl and the cool whip tub. It's faster and none of those goodies gets left behind.

This is one of our family's favorite desserts, however, mine is called "Proof of the Pudding".. I've also heard it called Chocolate Quad, or "Lush" (Lemon, Chocolate, or whatever flavor pudding you use).. my recipe is almost exactly the same but it calls for a small box of chocolate and a small box of vanilla and 3 cups of milk. There is only one thing that I don't like about making this pie, and that is trying to get the crust spread out. I've never made mine by melting the butter first and then adding the flour and then pressing the nuts in but it looks like it might be a tad easier your way than mixing softened butter, flour and nuts all together and trying to make it stretch. I've been tempted to just use a half cup more flour and a quarter stick more of butter to come up with more crust and I may do that one of these days because it is a struggle to get the crust spread out without it being so thin that there are holes in the crust. What I've been doing at the request of my husband is making the crust out of crushed up Oreos and butter. No need to bake it.. just crush up the cookies and add melted butter… spread in the pan and you are good to go. My recipe also calls for 1 cup of powdered sugar added to the cream cheese but one time I was out of powdered sugar so I just used regular and it worked like a charm and no one knew the difference so now I always just add plain sugar instead. Give this dessert a try folks.. you can use any type of pudding that suits your fancy, although I've never tried anything other than the chocolate and vanilla mixed together. Take care all!!

Oh , God love your sweet, precious granny. She is truly a diamond of a grandmother.
This video made me miss my dear granny and my momma. They were both great cooks and had that loving personality too.
I'm definitely going to try this Holy Smoke cake recipe.
Thank you for sharing her with us.
I'm a Nanna of 2 and they love my cooking and baking too. Maybe I should make a video with them helping me make something. It would be a sweet memory for them to cherish.
Hugs to you and granny. And your precious daughter too.
Love and blessings sent to you all.

My Mama showed me how to make these so I do every Christmas. I don't put nuts in the crust and I use pistacchio pudding instead of vanilla. I put red and green sugar sprinkles on top when I'm serving them. They don't last around here. We call them pistacchio squares
