Back in the 60’s in Calif we had Bob’s Big Boy and your cook brought back memories of eating there….great video as always! Neal nicely done mate! Oh Neal check out FlatIron Pepper Co, I bought their seasonings and i will never go back to plain old pepper flakes again….I use these on about everything. Try them your taste buds will thank you!
I love a good burger just like anybody, Used to go to bob's big In southern california. Always enjoyed the burgers as well as their fresh made cherry pie. Thanks for the memories coming back.
I have loved Frisches big boys for years, and yours looked better, especially than those being offered currently by the beloved franchise. The tarter sauce is so popular here, we can buy it by the jar from the restaurant or at the grocery store!
Cincinnati born and raised. Frischs is a staple. Their tartar sauce is the best. Hopefully you got some goldstar or skyline while you were in Cincy as well
One of the best burgers I’ve ever had was the Bleu Bacon Burger at Calico Jack’s in Orlando back in the 90’s. Crumbled bleu cheese, strips of bacon and a grilled burger..I ate the lettuce and tomato on the side…Wish I had a time machine.
As a kid growing up in Orlando, my parents took the whole family to Frisch’s Big Boy and we loved it. When I moved to Denver in the early 80’s, they had Azar’s Big Boy and on a trip to California in the early 2,000’s, they had Bob’s Big Boy. Pretty much the same burgers, unfortunately the majority of Frisch’s and Azar’s have closed 😓😓
Now all it needs is some Chili Sauce 🙂 My dad would have told you that you flipped it prematurely because at the good ol' DQ we let the juices rise to the top before flipping, but we also cooked at a lower temp. I remember Bob's Big Boy had a Big Mac style burger that I would usually order when we went there. And it had mayo, ketchup, and relish as the sauces which I always loved. For west coasters, fat burger also uses relish. There's just something I love about relish on a burger, and since your sauce has both sweet and savory relish it's got to be good. Nice work!
Sounds like thousand island dressing and that’s what I remember from Bobs Big boy when they were still around in So Cal. Similar to the In and Out burger chain here, they use their special sauce and I always use store bought thousand island dressing because it is almost the same thing. I use it on all my smash burgers…. Delectable! You burger looks amazing too! Griddle on!
You know that’s just a McDonalds Big Mac with better quality ingredients? Think of the jingle. 2 all-beef patties ✅ special sauce ✅ lettuce ✅cheese✅ onions 🙁pickles✅ on a sesame seed bun✅.
Interesting for sure. I had Shoneys here so I googled to see if they had the same burger. So from what I read they do a red relish made up of relish, ketchup, and chili sauce. Sounds pretty interesting and I see you can buy Frisch's tarter sauce online.
What’s funny is that I prefer cocktail sauce on all fish and shrimp, but I always used the tartar sauce with the fries, but it does sound good on a burger
I grew up in Cincinnati and Bob's big boy was always a great treat growing up…I love them😊😊😊 you did a great job 👏 😊 absolutely delicious 😋 😊 thank you so much for sharing ❤️ 😊 😘 ❤Annie
The sauce on the Big Boy burger isn't tarter sauce, so I'm wondering where you saw this? Not that i won't try your version also 😉. Fun fact- The Big Boy burger inspired the Big Mac

Omg man that looks so amazing!!! Tartar sauce is my favorite dip for fries so this slapped on so many levels!!! 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
That big boy you made would send a Frisch's big boy running home crying like a little baby…
I was hoping you will review the new Weber Slate griddle. You are always open and honest about griddles. Fingers crossed. As always, loved the vid!
I’m with you…. I put tartar sauce on my burger just in parts. I’m in…….will try it on the next burger.

Always order extra sauce to dip your French fries in. Great rendition.
There’s no way I could wrap my mouth around a burger that big; but it would sure be fun trying it. 😂😂
Amazon has the tarter sauce

That looks ridiculous.

Absolutely awesome Neil , I’m sure that bad boy was tasty! 😋 killer burger! Cheers 🍻
Delicious 😋
Here in Indiana our’s was Azar’s Big Boy. Great place – but gone now. So – off to the griddle!

Too much for the “normal” mouth! But mouth watering!😅

thats funny..so big boy that you couldnt bite…really good I'm sure
Burgers looks great ! Now the leftover tartar sauce means it's time for a griddle top fish fry !! 👍
The Big Boy is the bomb! Here in Louisville you can buy their tartar sauce in the grocery stores.
I remember them growing up as BOB's Big Boy restaurants. they did have huge burgers .. and a good Breakfast buffet .
You know that’s just a McDonalds Big Mac with better quality ingredients? Think of the jingle. 2 all-beef patties ✅ special sauce ✅ lettuce ✅cheese✅ onions 🙁pickles✅ on a sesame seed bun✅.
Nice cook! Glad to see that the griddle community is getting back to regular burgers instead of smash burgers!
