That looks good! I've never had Shepherd's Pie but may have to give this a try using some of my home canned roast beef. The smoked Cheddar sounds great in this. I will probably use canned peas and carrots because that's what I use in casseroles. Great way to s-t-r-e-t-c-h that steak! Thanks for sharing.

Just a point but "Shepherds" pie is traditionally made with Lamb. If you make it with any other domestic meat (beef, pork), then it's "Cottage" pie. If it's made with wild meat (rabbit, venison, fowl), then it's "Stalkers" or "Hunters" pie.

I've never added cheese to my shephards pie. Will have to try that. I need to get shelf stable mushrooms; I can't seem to keep them on hand and I'm the only one that eats them; I sure love me my shrooms!

Please please don't call Cottage Pie by the wrong name – Shepherds Pie is made from Lamb the clue is in the name Shepherds and they look after sheep not cows. Cottage Pie is made from beef not lamb.

I’ve used green beans and corn in my Shepherd’s pie but never put cheese inside of it. Thats an interesting turn that I’m going to try next time I make shepherds pie. Thanks for the tip.

This looks yummy. As a kid, I never liked shepherd’s pie with corn (I know, weird for a kid), so mom made traditional and a small side one with green beans covered with a can of cream of tomato for me. Such memories. Shrooms sound delish. Tfs.
