I have three questions for the next "answering post". 1. I canned apple pie filling with flour before I knew that was not safe. Is there any way to salvage it? 2. What happens if I add too much liquid to canned meat, then it makes its own also? 3. We tried to dehydrate fruit that was not quite done in the freeze dryer and it got worse. Do you think that is because we are not in the desert? I wrote these questions on the post from 10 months ago but not sure if you go back and check old posts.
We do this with Costco rotisserie chickens. Three shredded chickens will fill out four trays pretty well. Do you use new lids with the jars when vacuum sealing? Have you ever tried tattler lids for vacuum sealing? Lids have gotten so expensive.
Could you please tell me where you bought your scoop? Thanks
Thanks for sharing things you’ve F.D. It’s neat to see how people use their machines and successes are always a bonus. Keep up the good work!
I think Jim is also freeze dried
this lady is freeze dried
The BBQ chicken looks fantastic!
That looks delicious! I definitely want to give it a try.
These look great. Question: If I do a Boston butt do I need to wash it after cooked to remove most of the fat before I add sauce?
I'd love to make a suggestion: zero out a scale with the tray, put everything on the tray, weight it, freeze dry it, weigh it after with the same zero data, calculate the percentage of water loss, write that down on the container. Now you will never have to worry about excessively or insufficiently watering your food (that sound silly lol)
Did you know that you can write on the jar itself with a sharpie marker and it will wash off.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for test running your freeze-dried food. So many channels don’t do that and we end up making, and it turns out to be junk. Thank you again I appreciate you guys hard work that you put in these videos.
I hope you are planning a Freeze Dried book.
Another brilliant idea… Im sooo doing this… I love that you always show the rehydration…thank you both so much
Oh my goodness Pam your BBQ chicken looks delicious and the buns WOW. Have a safe trip. Good video. Thanks.
I will definitely be making this. Got my Freeze dryer Monday. So excited
I think I was actually drooling through that whole video! My next FDing video. Thank you.
Pam, thank you for your thorough explanations.
There's absolutely zero surprise in that the freeze dryer is named Kelvin.
Hi Pam and Jim, love the video, as always! Looks delicious! Did the freeze-drying take a lot longer by not pre-freezing the trays? It looks easier not to freeze them first. Have a great trip. It is wonderful seeing you both enjoying your retirement so much!😊❤
thanks love it 😀
