One of these meals would have been handy last week when we came home from vacation and hadn't made it to the store, and since I stored the ingredients in individual bags, I could also drop them off at a neighbor's or friend's home if they needed something like this!

Great ideas! One meal we enjoy is 1lb browned ground beef, 3 cans campbells veggie soup along with the water, beef bullion, and a drained can of diced potatoes. Easy and tasty. My toddler son loves it too.

We camp at a campground that has year round residents that live in their campers because of cost of housing in our area. We know some struggle to get food so we are going to put together Christmas Boxes for them and these will be perfect to do!!

These are great ideas and wouldn't hurt for anyone to have on hand for quick dinners. All areas are suffering from disasters here it is loss of power during peak uses, drought and fires.

This video was brilliant. Year ago I worked with the Home Delivered Meals program for seniors in the area. Self stable meals were delivered at the beginning of the winter season (in Upstate NY). Emergencies can come out of nowhere and it is good to plan ahead and have plenty of food and water ready along with other emergency supplies. Great job!

It's so important for us all to think about the "what if" scenarios. What if the primary chef is out of commission for a week? What if the car breaks down and we can't get to the store? What if we lose a paycheck and can't buy groceries? What if civil unrest prevents an easy run-to-the-store option? What if. the supply chain is compromised by a pandemic (again)? My daughter was in college when the cities were disrupted last summer, and I made sure she had a few meals worth of shelf stable ingredients in a bin just like the one you have. ETA – I have my hubby and son take some of these meals camping to practice/sample them!

I have. Really good potato soup recipe to add, I use home canned potatoes in quarts 3 of them, but you could use canned potatoes. Put into a pot. With all the potato water, add one can cream of chicken soup, one jar of cheese sauce( Aldi's) and a cup of milk. ( Shelf stable or evaporated. Add seasonings, onion powder, garlic powder, dried chives, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper and simmer on low. This cheesy potato soup is delicious!!

That great value chili is really good it tastes like hormel chili to me I keep 12 cans in my pantry stock. Another thing I stocked was 20 pounds of quaker oats so it has been stored for a year but I just started today I am having oatmeal everyday with raisins and walnuts and a little bit of sweetener it actually is pretty good I do like those little packets but they are not as filling. I also keep canned chicken, spam beef, pork, vegetables, pasta sauce, rice packets, dried potato flakes, potato side dishes, Mac and cheese, soups, Ramen, 40 pounds of rice and 20 pounds of beans so we are now eating through the things that will go bad and replenish the items that we clear out. I learned a big lesson this last year which is to always be prepared. And I also have a camp stove with fuel because we had that same snow storm in Tennessee and the city shut down for a week I was very thankful when we could finally get out to the grocery store but it felt good to know that we could have held out for a while if we needed too.

Genius Mindy! Hats off to you for doing a video like this! As we never know when these kind of meals may come in handy! For example: 1 year ago yesterday, a Derecho came through & smashed us! We lost power for 2 days. North of us lost power for 2+ wks. It as a mess! Trees down, electric poles snapped in half, etc! The bulk of my stock up is in my huge chest freezer & I wasn’t wanting to open it due to thawing! I do have a substantial pantry , but these are some awesome tips for feeding a family that is hungry. Anyone who would judge about not being healthy food has never been in a situation where you CAN NOT worry about healthy when you’ve got hungry people! Yes, more videos like this would & could be very beneficial to families! I would personally like to see more! Thanks Mindy!😊💜

Hi Mindy! Great ideas! THANK YOU! Those Knorr pasta sides I always put just water in no milk or butter they are seasoned very well even the butter noodles need no butter. I would love to see another video like this with dollar tree ect… I live in the Northeast and I do not like winter at all. Right now it's in the 90s with heat index at 100. We have a gas stove too so we can use in power outage. Also shells and cheese because all you n e ed is water for the p seat and open the cheese sauce pouch.Sorry so long! Thank you!
