Because they are not to be used this way all you're doing is spreading the germs. You are defeating the purpose including your time for a futile outcome.
Better off using a disinfectant spray (bleach and water) if surface can tolerate it and let it sit for a minimum 5 minutes then follow up with paper towels. Using disposable gloves thru out the process.
