2017? Dry goods last forever, Christine, don't worry! We, this Christmas used canned goods that had a best by date of 2020. Still fine! (peas & carrots) LOL
I call it "well-prepared". 😉 Because it's not around for ever, yes you constantly stock back up, but it gets used and rotated! It's not for nought! 🙂 Hope Haley heals well.
Omg I'm dying!!! You are the ultimate!!!
more of these please with random stuff from the freezer and pantry. Odd stuff, helps with ideas for dinner. Thank you 🙂 I am glad to see the kids learning how to cook. My children have been self sufficient from the age of 10. They are in charge of their own laundry too. My son is a chef at a Restaurant because i tought him the basics early on!!!
Burgers really are awesome! I'm with you!😋😋
Good for the boys, my parents did that. And my dad taught me how to work on my car, change tires, change oil, what to look at when buying a used car.
He even taught 3 of his granddaughters
Chili uses up loads of cans so I love chili for the pantry challenge. I am just pulling out things from the freezer and then finding a way to use them. I had roasted frozen veg (if you have an air fryer it’s even better), black bean and vegan queso (so?) burritos on the weekend. They were amazing.
To be able to slice the roast you should let it rest at least until it no longer "smokes" 🤓😉
I had lots of lentils and made dhal tadka. Big hit. I'm going to make it again. Great with naan bread or even tortillas.
Those beans look amazing and the meat (with or without the au jus) looks delicious. I suspect I need to get inspired by this and look around for some things that have been lost in my pantry and if they are still edible go ahead and use them up. So glad to see you teaching your boys to cook for themselves. Someday their wives will thank you.
Ok you just made me feel good with the expired pasta from 2017, because been there done that and how in the heck would it be bad anyway. I do not think it would be bad still 30 years from now. So loved that you shared that!! Love the kids sharing their learning to cook. Wonderful! Slow cooked pot roast always shreds so the instant pot did the trick I think. You can put those hamburger packs because they are sealed tight into the sink with cold water covering them for around 20 min and they will defrost really fast.
I am doing a clean out the pantry and freezer as well. Because we want to buy a new house this year, and I don't fancy taking a bunch of old food to our new house lol. I don't want to throw it away when we move either. So eat it up it is! My husband is bummed because he likes to eat out but I put the kibosh on that lol. We were spending too much money that way, and it wasn't healthy for us. So now we eat out once a week and cook the rest of the week. I made bean burritos the other day and the recipe i found was amazing for instant pot refried beans. 🙂 My husband loved it. He's not a fan of vegetarian meals so I felt super accomplished! We didn't want kids so I don't have to worry about picky kids, just a picky husband! 😉
I loved Kims cameo!!!
Hey! I'm a bit of a new sub for you and I am so very interested in YOUR take on meal replacement shakes. Please make a video on that, if you havent already. I'm browsing youtube for vids on that, dont see anything current and it's the right time of year for it!!
I see hamburger…I hear Steve Martin from Pink Panther.lol
Don’t want to talk about the bananas 🍌 😂 Poor Dave and his good deal bananas.
80 minutes for your roast in the IP may have been a bit too long? Love your energy. Fun watching you clean out your pantry. I think I should do the same.
I need to clean my pantry but I’m gone all this week so I need to hope for time next week. Thanks for the recipes and other ideas!
I’m so jealous of your deep freezer, wish I had the space for one 🤩
Love your videos! My grandmother taught us how to cook growing up so we could fend for ourselves! Never a bad thing!
Having your kids as sous-chef is a great idea. Boys especially often get forgotten when it comes to cooking and food prep.
My pantry challenge will start in about a month when baby #5 arrives…. after I go thru my previously prepared freezer meals… it will be cook with what we have, as I am not planning on grocery shopping for a while haha
We’re doing a no spend January on my channel also. It’s been nice we’re using up lots of the meat that have been in the freezer for a while.
We took all the tomatoes I froze from our Garden and made a large crockpot of tomato soup. Yeah, we are freezing for the future.
Where did you get the baskets in your chest freezer, please? I need something like that for my chest freezer!
lol
Arm is in a cast so we’re burning through the frozen, canned and boxed stuff. Hoping I can cook again in February, but this month it’s whatever hubs can scrounge up for us.
I went BOSS on a veggie soup pantry/freezer clean out today! My mom sent me a YouTube video of a cabbage veggie soup she wanted (has the Rona) and I was like "I literally have ALL the vegetables except the cabbage". Thanks to having some chicken bouillon cubes and the trusty salt and pepper, it turned out great. Probably hard to mess up veggie soup, but I would've in the past before watching these videos!!!
I’ve been taking stock of my freezers since before Christmas and making tons of freezer meals and family meals. I took stock to use up old stuff and I mean six months or more . my goal is to buy a larger up right freezer but not until I rid my excess. After three elks I have made a huge dent in the bulk. Yea me
You can add carrot to the sauce to reduce acidity. You can either add it as an ingredient or just put a whole peeled carrot while you cook and remove it at the end
Yummy try chorizo burners
Doing the pantry challenge to, so far so good 😊
I started eating through my pantry, fridge, and freezer in December after i found out my rent is going up by $300. Merry Christmas to me! /s
I've only bought groceries to make meals when I didn't have all the ingredients. Definitely a money saver. Hoping to finish everything but spices & condiments before it's time to move🤞
I got chicken kegs and thighs for 33 cents a pound…no lie. In 10 pound frozen bags. Instant pot took all 10 lbs . I separated the good chicken from the bones and skin and goop. Used the good chicken in recipes boiled the bones and goiop.
If you don't make a mess, are you really cooking at all?!?!? 🤣🤣👍👍
I love that type of waffle iron too! Had one for ages before it finally stopped working. I found a comparable one from Black and Decker and it works great! Love that you’re getting your kids involved in the cooking. It’s a great skill to have😊
