Never liked chicken and dumplings and I think it's because of the bisquick people just throw in there which makes it tastes to doughy and provide a weird texture. Not good at all. But this looks to be actually really good.

I grew up using drop biscuit dough for dumplings. I add bouillon and herbs to my dumplings too. If you could talk mom into noodles and dumplings it was a treat! Best of both worlds.

This is a family favourite recipe from my grandmother. We make it with stew beef and call it stew and popeyes. The "dumplings" look the same as yours, but are made with an egg, milk, and flour. So delicious!

The only thing I would change is to have the dumplings dusted with flour so the broth thickens. I love these kind of dumplings as well as the fluffy kind where you drop batter by the spoonful. My grandma also made potato dumplings. Starch coma but so good.

I’d like to suggest also instead of using a knife to cut, you can use a pizza cutter (the rolling kind). It’s fast and easy and will not ruin your counter. Pastry cutters can work too.
