Looks nice 👌
Smashed it 👍🏻Good Job! That’s a point redeemed for US/UK relations I reckon 🇺🇸🇬🇧:)
Have never had Cumberland pie I don't think.
Cottage pie/Cumberland pie/Shepherds pie. Simple and easy, get what meat you like, get what veg you like, bang em together in a sauce with the spices/herbs you like, then top of with taters in your favourite form (mashed or sliced etc) whack it in the oven, bury it in cheese, and fanny's your aunt. Job jobbed.
Cornflour is the British name for cornstarch. Just as well you put that flour in!
lol .. I think I've had too much K cider.
I thought Michelle was saying Baileys (Oirish cream)
lol .. BAY leaves !!
hahaha.. Hey… Might try that anyway !!
scratch the Baileys.. I'd use Drambuie
I put plenty of black pepper & mushrooms in Cottage/Shepherds pie
Don't forget the cheese
[edit]
Hey.. I even put cherry toms in it !
First I was Nooooo to the chicken stock cubes Lol. BTW You do NOT need a pressure cooker. I actually use 2 beef stock cubes. Corn flour is used to thicken the liquid up (you do not need much if at all and if you don't have any then you can use plain flour 1-2 tbsp) Then I was getting really worried and shouting at the screen where is the cheese???? But then you remembered the cheese Lol. TBH You can use either mince or cut the meat into chunks. Regarding the potatoes I actually mash my potatoes up (with butter and milk) and add cheese into the mash and then sprinkle lots of strong cheese on top (I think most of us Brits use strong cheddar cheese and maybe also some parmesan also) It is very similar to Cottage Pie (made with beef) and Shepherds Pie (made with lamb) Also another way you can make this is to use a can of guinness to cook the meat and/or use that as the stock (instead of stock cubes) that gives it a lovely richness and makes the meat really tender (so maybe try that next time for something different) Hope my little tips helped for if you make it again and want to try a different version? You could also add in a tspn or 2 (5-10ml) of English mustard for extra flavour x
Hola good job on Cumberland don't know y hevthinks you need pressure cooker you managed with out kids enjoyed it that's a win in my books😄 bon appetit 😉
BOVRIL Michelle
Your UK vs US dont annoy me now good job :), And diced not minced lol
The end product was not picture perfect. But hey if it tastes nice then it's all good. Keep practising you can only get better
#TravelingOfFamilyOfFive I use mince beef
The tastiest dish is Michelle
Cumberland Pie a la Michelle.
Looked good to me.
I don’t know Cumberland pie. You may have missed some things but the important thing is you didn’t make anyone ill 😀 and if you all liked it then bonus. Plus it is gluten free.
I would say that the cornflour was definitely to thicken the gravy.
hahaaha you gotta love Michelle for her Tenacity she certainly brings cooking to a whole new Level hahaha and it looks Delicious Michelle 🙂 i'd certainly woolf it down Lol
Once the meat is cubed before frying off you dredge the meat in flour this will thicken the sauce up. 👍
Did you notice she gave it to the kids first. Just in case it made them I'll
Loved this!! Well done, it looked delicious!! 😘
Well done Michelle I'd eat it
Good Job x
I don't think Ramsey would use a stock pot either so he would agree with you.
Hiya. It worked out well, Michelle. And you did what we all do, if we're not sure about something – wing it! The best thing? Gluten free. So you can ALL eat it. And I bet you're going to make a few tweaks and little changes, here and there, when you make it again; then, it'll be your own recipe (write it down). Stay safe. All the best to you.
It looked pretty close
Those stock pots are hard to get in the USA. My goddaughter gets them smuggled in.
Shepherds pie is just cottage pie but with lamb instead of beef. Cumberland pie just has a crunchy top. We usually use minced aka ground beef.
It seam as you may have left the UK but the UK hasn't really left you.. great video
I don't know if Gordon Ramsay would not like this Cumberland pie reaction on TikTok.
